Hamas Pushes For State Along ’67 Borders

Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal said last Wednesday that he would accept a Palestinian state along Israel’s pre-1967 borders, a position already taken by Fatah rival, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. “I accept a Palestinian state according [to] the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as the capital, with the right to return,” Mashaal said during a CNN interview in Cairo where he is exiled.

Israel Storms Al-Aqsa Mosque

Israeli police stormed the Al-Aqsa mosque on Friday, driving Muslim worshipers out of the compound after being pelted with rocks by Palestinians. The conflict was sparked after a group of Israeli settlers entered the mosque while Palestinian worshipers were conducting Friday prayers, reports the Iranian Fars news agency.
