Biden: ‘I Regret Every Day’ Not Running For POTUS

Vice President Joe Biden said Sunday that he “regrets every day” that he did not enter the 2016 presidential race – but his choice was best for his family.

“I regret it every day, but it was the right decision for my family and for me. And I plan on staying deeply involved,” Biden told Connecticut NBC affiliate WVIT.

Biden said the Democratic race between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is “what I expected,” adding that there has been a “real robust debate between Hillary and Bernie, as there would have been if I had gotten in the race.”

Speculation that Biden would enter the Democrat Party primary went on for months in 2015. He eventually decided to not run, citing the recent death of his son, Beau.

Biden unsuccessfully sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 1988 and in 2008, both times dropping out early in the race.
