California Congressman Tom McClintock claims that, despite repeated claims to the contrary, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie plans to run for the US presidency in 2012.
“I heard him [Chris Christie] give a speech in Washington last week, and I know a campaign speech when I hear one,” the fiscal-conservative Republican McClintock told San Francisco morning talk radio show Armstrong and Getty on Thursday. “He’s running.”
McClintock, who represents California’s 4th District, said that although he’s “been head over heels in love” with Newt Gingrich, he would “drop that bum in a second for that sexy stud Chris Christie.”
The tough-talking New Jersey governor has recently made media appearances highlighting his aggressive stand on fiscal responsibility and touting him as a possible nominee for the Republican Party in 2012.
Although he has emphatically denied plans for a presidential bid, Christie has begun an exercise regime that some believe is being done to make him more appealing to voters.
