Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal
A Saudi Prince who happens to be the second-largest shareholder in News Corp, the parent company of FOX News, is also a major financial supporter of the Imam planning to build the Ground Zero Mosque.
Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal owns an estimated US $2.5-billion-worth of News Corp., the second-largest shareholder behind Rupert Murdoch. Through his personal charity, the Kingdom Foundation, Prince Al-Waleed has also donated US $ 305,000 to Muslim Leaders of Tomorrow. This project is sponsored by two of Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf’s initiatives, the American Society for Muslim Advancement and the Cordoba Initiative, which is building the Manhattan mosque.
Reports and commentators on FOX News have led the way in criticizing the building of the Ground Zero Mosque.

The Saudi Prince, whose name is also spelled Alwaleed, was also named as a shadowy backer of Barack Obama when the American President was a young student trying to get into Harvard.
Following the World Trade Center attacks in October 2001, New York mayor Rudy Giuliani turned down a US $10 million donation from Al-Waleed for disaster relief after the Prince suggested the United States “must address some of the issues that led to such a criminal attack,’ and ‘re-examine its policies in the Middle East.”
Giuliani interpreted his statements as drawing “a moral equivalency between liberal democracies like the United States, like Israel, and terrorist states and those who condone terrorism.”
Murdoch recently took a stake in Prince Al-Waleed’s Middle East-based media conglomerate, Rotana Group. The two are reportedly working on launching an Arabic news network that will compete with existing pan-Arabic networks Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabiya.
