Ron Paul May Not Run in 2012

Ron Paul

Despite much-publicized reports, Texas Republican congressman Ron Paul says he has not decided on running again for president in 2012, and is still gauging support for an effort before he makes a final decision.

“I haven’t decided to run, and I haven’t decided not to run,” Dr. Paul told talk radio host Alex Jones Wednesday. “It will depend a lot on what I see as support. A lot of people like what I’m doing and support it, but there are some who say, ‘well, it’s time for you to take a rest, like somebody else do it.’”

News that the Texas libertarian would take another shot at the White House in 2012 started over on The Ron Paul Forums in a post made by someone calling himself “Matt Collins,” who claims to have connections with the Paul family. It was reportedly confirmed over the weekend at the Florida Liberty Summit in Orlando and quickly picked up by other websites, including The Daily Paul.

“I don’t know where they got that, they didn’t get it from me,” Dr. Paul said.

Dr. Paul handily won the CPAC Presidential straw poll last February, a victory that stunned mainstream Republicans and neo-conservatives, who spun feverishly to downplay it. A Public Policy Polling survey last June showed that Independents chose Dr. Paul over US President Barack Obama in a hypothetical match-up by 18 points.

Rule #1. Never believe Matt Collins, a furry little woodland creature that inhabits the Paulsphere, angling however possible to garner attention for himself.

Ron Paul is the only Republican that cannot be smeared with the “Bush-record” so unpopular these days. Ron Paul has my 100% support. Everyone else is a losing proposition.

We must remember 1/2 of the nation is brainwashed, it has to be a popular person who is TV friendly. I give up F#$%&*^$ it, we could have had 2 conservative judges on the supreme court if we backed mac yes he sucks he only voted 80% conservative but conservatives are not realists, they belive because its conservative u can’t lose I must remind all the left media has a 40%

Please say this isn’t so??? With all the anti-party sentiment, I think this is the FIRST time he’ll actually stand a chance!

  13. givejonadollar says

I think he will run for President, not Senate. Don’t despair. He knows how important he is. It’s just not logical to announce it yet.

  14. George Washington says

    If I may please;

Ron Paul is the only presidential candidate who would cut enough spending to avert a debt crisis. Only he will restore constitutionally sound money. And, only he will strengthen our national defense by bringing our troops home and putting an end to the nation-building that is draining our country.
Watch Dr Paul question Ben Bernanke if you doubt Paul understands even subtle aspects of the economy. Imagine Palin or Romney doing that?
Other candidates speak flowery words and tell nothing of how anything will get done. Mr. Paul is very different.
Constitutionally, legislatively, and morally, Ron Paul has no equal. His 22 year voting record speaks for itself.
Please help give America back Her Constitution.
Ron Paul for President in 2012.
    Thank You
