DNA tests on Bobby Fischer have ruled out his being the father of a Filipino child whose mother laid claim to the late chess champion’s estate.
“The DNA report excluded Bobby Fisher from being the father of Jinky Young, and therefore the case has come to a close,” said lawyer Thordur Bogason, who is representing the child.
As previously reported, Filipina Marilyn Young claims Fischer is the father of her child, 9-year-old Jinky. Young is laying claim to Fischer’s US $2 million dollar estate, to which he left no will.
Fischer’s body was controversially exhumed in July to determine if Jinky was a blood relative.
In addition to Jinky, others laying claim to the Fischer estate are his widow Myoko Wata, two nephews, and the US government, who is trying to claim unpaid taxes.

It is a shame that the paternity issue in this case could not have been determined when he was living! I blogged about this and other paternity issues in the news here: http://lawblog.legalmatch.com/2010/07/29/whos-your-daddy-when-paternity-is-an-issue/
