GOP Greenlights Israeli Attack On Iran

47 House Republicans have introduced legislation that endorses an Israeli attack on Iran to stop the Islamic Republic’s perceived attempt at acquiring nuclear weapons.

H.R. 1553, which was introduced on July 22 by Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert, Minnesota Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann and 45 other Representatives (and can be read in full here), states:

Support for the State of Israel’s right to defend Israeli sovereignty, to protect the lives and safety of the Israeli people, and to use all means necessary to confront and eliminate nuclear threats posed by the Islamic Republic of Iran, including the use of military force if no other peaceful solution can be found within reasonable time to protect against such an immediate and existential threat to the State of Israel.

The resolution also “reaffirms the United States bond with Israel and pledges to continue to work with the Government of Israel and the people of Israel to ensure that their sovereign nation continues to receive critical economic and military assistance, including missile defense capabilities, needed to address the threat of Iran.”

Reuel Marc Gerecht

H.R. 1553 was followed four days later by a lengthy article from influential neo-con Reuel Marc Gerecht in The Weekly Standard that argues for an Israeli strike on Iran.

“If the Israelis bomb now, American public opinion will probably be with them,” writes the former CIA Middle East specialist. “Perhaps decisively so.”

Speculation on the possibility of an American strike on Iran has increased since Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, said last week that the US has readied a military plan to prevent Iran from going nuclear – but hopes it would not be put to use.

Former Cuban dictator Fidel Castro made his first official governmental appearance Saturday in a speech to his parliament where he warned a “nuclear holocaust” would happen soon, and urged US President Barack Obama against going down that path.

However, the attendance of American Ambassador John Roos at ceremonies marking the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima – the first time a US delegate has been sent in 65 years – has been seen as evidence that Obama wants to further his goal of establishing a world free of nuclear weapons.

An insightful line found in the Gerecht piece shows how America could become involved in an attack on Iran.

“If [Iranian supreme leader Ali] Khamenei has a death-wish, he’ll let the Revolutionary Guards mine the strait, the entrance to the Persian Gulf,” writes Gerecht. “It might be the only thing that would push President Obama to strike Iran militarily [....].”

He also writes that Obama might be “obliged” to threaten major retaliation against Iran “immediately after an Israeli surprise attack.”

Speculation on when such an attack would occur puts it in the month of August, based primarily on the fact that Iran is set to finish its first nuclear power plant, a joint venture with Russia located in Bushear, in September.

It's all political posturing by reps. with members with high Zionistic Jewish constituent numbers in their districts, like the fat Gary Ackerman and the former fat Gerald Nadler (he had bariatric surgery); Ackerman needs it. If Israel or the U.S. attack Iran unprovoked, there will not be a subway car, bus or commuter train that is safe to ride in the U.S. They will all blow up in our faces. Think about it, you Zionist/AIPAC puppets. Put down the bagels, cream cheese and the lox. Lock up the knishes and the rugelach and think about what you are doing.

That's how the oppresive powers operate.
