Questions are being raised after Wikileaks founder Julian Assange claimed that his group attempted to contact the Obama Administration before leaking several thousand classified military documents pertaining to the war in Afghanistan.
“We actually asked the White House to provide resources to help us review the material, and they did not respond,” Assange told FOX News correspondent Judge Napolitano when asked if the publication of classified military documents might lead to lives being put at risk.
Assange also said the material released is 7 months old, lessening its tactical consequence. “We have worked hard to prevent innocents from being harmed,” he said, adding that Wikileaks retained some 15,000 classified documents that may have lead to endangering lives on the ground.
Here is video of the interview excerpt:
After the White House denied ever having been contacted by Wikileaks about the documents release, representatives of Assange later told FOX News that they had attempted to contact the Obama Administration through The New York Times.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs confirmed that the Administration had been in contact with Wikileaks through The New York Times.
