White House Press Secretary says US President Barack Obama has not ordered NASA Administrator Charles Bolden to make Muslims “feel good” about their past achievements in science, math, and engineering.
“That was not his task, and that’s not the task of NASA,” Gibbs told reporters Monday when asked about the statement made by Bolden on Al Jazeera television.
However, The Orlando Sentinel reports that Bolden made similar remarks last February to a group of engineering students.
“We really like Indonesia because the State Department, the Department of Education [and] other agencies in the U.S. are reaching out to Indonesia as the largest Muslim nation in the world. We would love to establish partners there,” Bolden is reported as saying.
