Juanita Castro-Ruz
Juanita Castro-Ruz, the estranged sister of former Cuban Communist dictator Fidel Castro, is undergoing radiation treatment to battle lung cancer, reports CNN.
“I am in the best medical hands, receiving the proper treatment,” Castro said on her website. “It’s a serious condition, but I’m not at the side of my grave.”
Her spokesperson told CNN that Castro underwent surgery more than a month ago in a Miami hospital to remove a tumor in her lung.
Like all the Castro siblings, Juanita Castro-Ruz took part in the Cuban Revolution. Her role was buying weapons and raising money to fund the war.
After Fidel took over Cuba, Castro-Ruz became disenchanted with the Revolution, saying Communists had taken over the government.
When she defected in 1964, Castro-Ruz the world, “I cannot longer remain indifferent to what is happening in my country. My brothers Fidel and Raúl have made it an enormous prison surrounded by water. The people are nailed to a cross of torment imposed by international Communism.”

please remove my above response…i was foolish to not read the article before i posted.i had not realized she was a defector.my great grandfather fled russia to escape the communists and then to cuba….great move…srry…i just really hate communists and castro holds a deep dark place in my heart so i over reacted.my apologies.
