German Passport issued to Uri Brodsky
Alleged Mossad agent Uri Brodsky reportedly invoked the memory of the Holocaust to get passports used in the assassination of a Hamas militant in Dubai.
Brodsky cited “persecution by the Nazis during the Third Reich” in his request to get a passport under the name Michael Bodenheimer, a move that has the German government furious, reports ynet.
The news has so angered the German government that “political considerations will not play a part in the case,” which will be handled “strictly according to legal criteria.”
German newspaper Der Spiegel reports Brodsky used several aliases, including “Alexander Verin” while getting the passports in March 2009. It is also believed he used a Cologne lawyer to help him, and used credit cards under the name of “Uri Brodsky.”
Brodsky was arrested June 4 in Warsaw, Poland’s international airport and will be extradited to Germany to stand trial. His lawyer told a Polish court that his client is merely a businessman caught up in a case of mistaken identity.
