Faulkner claims Bin Laden is in Nuristan
An American man who claims to have been on a solo mission to kill Al Queda leader Osama bin Laden has been arrested in northern Pakistan .
52-year-old Gary Brooks Faulkner was armed with a handgun, a sword, a dagger Christian literature and night vision equipment. The California construction worker told police he was looking to avenge the deaths of 3,000 Americans on September 11, 2001. Osama bin Laden is believed to have been behind the terrorist attack.
Faulkner was arrested as he was trying to cross into Afghanistan’s Nuristan region, where he claims the terrorist leader is hiding out. The area is a Taliban stronghold.
The American came to Pakistan on a tourist visa and stayed in the Chirkat valley, where an annual spring dancing festival that brings many foreigners was being held. It was his third trip to Pakistan in the last five years.
Police began searching for Faulkner after he eluded the security guard assigned to him, a common practice due to safety concerns in the region. Faulkner was found after a 10-hour search and did not resist arrest.
