Indys Give Ron Paul 18 Points Over Obama

Independent American voters favor Texas congressman Ron Paul over President Barack Obama by 18 points, a new survey from Public Policy Polling shows.

In the hypothetical match-up, Obama still beats all Republicans overall, yet shows he is slipping fast. The President leads Mike Huckabee 46-44, and Mitt Romney 45-42.

Overall, Obama also beats out Newt Gingrich (47-39), Sarah Palin (50-41), and Ron Paul (46-36).

However, it is Ron Paul, whose strict fiscal conservative, constitutional, and anti-war platform that attracts an overwhelming amount of independent support, who see him favorably by a 35-25 margin. They also support him over Obama by 18 points, the survey shows.

A previous Rasmussen poll from April shows Obama in a statistical dead heat, and beat the President 47% to 28% among independents.

It is that same platform, particularly his stance on foreign policy, that has damaged Paul’s polling withing the Republican Party, the survey shows.

Full results of the survey can be downloaded here.

I think most independents are libertarian-minded, even if they don't know it. Not a huge surprise they prefer Ron Paul over Obama now that most know what he stands for.

I'm an independent voter – and I vastly prefer Ron Paul over Obama. Any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I hope he runs as an independent, I am a diehard democrat by I would probably pull the leaver for Paul in 2012 because things are only getting worst with Obama. As for Romney, Huckabee, etc…. Thats the same buch of Bushites that got us into this mess in the first place, I will go 4 more years with Obama before another 8 years of Cheney Rule.

I’m a former Republican, but now I don’t consider myself anything. I want to see the whole left/right paradigm shattered. I am “issue driven”. I may consult the mainstream politicians and their party’s for their opinions… but I’ll form my own after checking my alternate sources.
I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the whole Democrat vs Republican thing. Do the RIGHT thing. Don’t subscribe to the 2 party system unless you do support their candidate.
But America desperately needs a 3rd party (or more)

We are losing this country fast, McCain would have been a good president he would not put lefty dikes on the court or in the service. That alone may kill the constitution. Conservitves better wake up if we don't get some americans in the congress we are doomed. Anyone who was not smart enough too see that OBAMA was a train wreck is an IDIOT. But our brilliant talk show hosts were angry that McCain was no conservitive! But he is an american, and now we tetter on the brink of destruction! Thanks Alex Jones, Rush, Savage and the rest of the fools who tore McCain appart instead of helping to elect him, we would not be dead ducks if mac won, any who denies the truth of this must have a mental disorder. So please make sure if a person is not a true conservative you let some lefty win. Great plan.

    Mr. Ron Paul for 2012.

Regan said, “What to ask is am I better off now than 4 years ago. Is food cheaper now than 4 years ago? Are taxes lower now than 4 years ago? Is the job situation better than it was 4 years ago?”

With Ron Paul’s 2012, You, it, and they would be.
Constitutionally, legislatively, and morally, Ron Paul has no equal. His 22 year voting record speaks for itself.
As Mr. Regan said, “You ain’t seen nothin yet!”
