Leftist activists from Code Pink and members of the disability group ADAPT doubled-teamed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi at a speech Tuesday.
The Code Pink activists were opposed to American policy towards Israel, and held up a huge banner that read, “Stop funding Israeli terror”:
Others, representing the disability rights group ADAPT, protested in support of the Community Choice Act, a bill that would give those eligible for nursing home care the choice of in-home, community-assisted support.
Pelosi was at America’s Future Now conference, hosted by the liberal group Campaign for America’s Future.
Although security wanted her to leave the podium, Pelosi stood her ground and even heard out one of the ADAPT protesters and responded to her grievances. The House Speaker was drowned out at times while she continued to give her 29-minute speech, which she had to yell through.
