South Africa Mulls Porn Ban

South Africans may not be able to watch porn on television, the Internet or their mobile devices, if one lawmaker there has his way.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Malusi Gigaba has proposed a ban on digitally-distributed pornography, which would cover everything from the iPhone to television sets.

“Cars are already provided with brakes and seatbelts… There is no reason why the internet should be provided without the necessary restrictive mechanisms built into it,” Gigaba told the BBC.

Internet security experts have dismissed the proposed ban as “madness.”

Gigaba has been in talks with South Africa’s Law Reform Commission to see if his proposed ban is possible. He has also spoken  to the Justice Alliance for South Africa (JASA), a respected group which has written its own draft bill on the issue.

It should be banned everywhere.. Porn is nothing but another addiction that rips apart marriages and families.

Not to mention how it DOES set up scenarios for rape-pedophilia-murder…etc etc etc.

If in the most remote parts of man and womankind's they do not "see" the truth in this? The longer the devil will have his day in their lives..Just as the content of movies & video games etc etc..influence the beliefs and will also influence all who partake in the ones containing demonic content….

And should anyone say "This is NOT so!" I beg to differ with that person, or persons…for they are only fooling themselves just as a drug and alcoholic for so long fool themselves…(We did anything for our "rushes"–so will ALL addicts of whatever type do for theirs..

Only One can deliver from ALL addictions..That One is the Son of the Living Jehovah God…Jesus the Christ.

He did it for me –He can and will do it for you…He will set free any who come to Him..He is no respecter of persons. And there is no sin too great or disgusting for Him to forgive and with Him as Lord and Savior…begin a brand new life…with a new mind and a new heart.

This is probably the most intelligent thing that has come out of SA in the past 20 years, i think they should do it and the more they act “intelligent” with things like this, the better all south africans will live.

How they will ban it, i dont know.

The first time i can say “im 100% behind the decision of this dude”

I imagine alcohol has a bigger part to play in rape, paedophilia and murder than porn does. That's just a guess though – I'm not an expert like Wanda :)

Oh yes porn is very bad, too many risks, life threatening in fact (hence the need for seatbelt and brake equivalents). I think while we at it, we should ban smoking totally, it damages the bodies of those who choose to smoke, the environment and people like me who don't smoke. Oh, and alcohol too must be totally banned, too many crimes are associated with alcohol abuse each year – it will sorta be like a safety belt equivalent on enjoying life a little – yes far too dangerous. Ban the elderly from driving, they cause traffic jams and as a result may cause an accident. Ban the news, better that we not exposed to graphic violence and sufferance out there in the world. Wow, the list could go on. Seems like the government better get moving, it's a long journey to get society totally secured. Tough job.
