Safety concerns have prompted the White House to have Vice President Joe Biden attend the opening ceremonies at the 2010 World Cup Games in South Africa this June instead of Barack Obama.
Islamic terrorist group Al Queda published a threat against the Games, which will be held on the African continent for the first time next month, back in April. UK tabloids have cautioned British punters from traveling to South Africa after the savage murder of AWB leader Eugene Terreblanche heightened racial tensions in the post-Apartheid nation.
Hussein Solomon, head of the International Institute of Islamic Studies in South Africa, alerted the world last October to the ANC government’s pre-occupation with “White racists” has left it open to possible terrorist attacks from Islamic radicals.
Biden plans a week-long trip to Africa the week of June 7, whose itinerary includes meeting Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak “to discuss a full range of bilateral and regional issues,” the White House said.
