Mazda Drifter
A 40-year-old South African farmer was beaten and dragged to death on his farm near Potchefstrooman, in what may have been effort to silence him from testifying in a robbery case later this month.
Neighbors found Johan Strydom dead in his barn with heavy chains wrapped around his ankles. “Johan’s hands were badly bruised,” said good friend Jurie Schoeman, who was looking forward to having a braai (South African BBQ) with him. “We think he fought back. He was such a good person. We just don’t understand why this happened.”
Police believe Strydom was beaten with an iron rod and then tied to the back of his Mazda Drifter pickup truck with a chain and dragged to his death. The murderers left his body in his barn.

Although Strydom’s cellphone and wallet were taken by the murderers, the farmer was set to testify in a robbery case later this month. The man accused of breaking into and robbing Strydom’s aunt’s home was out on bail.
Schoeman said Strydom told him a week ago about how he was receiving strange calls. Each time he answered, the phone would be put down.
“About two months ago they broke into Johan’s house and he then also reported a case of burglary,” Schoeman said.
Police have arrested a 21-year-old Black farm worker and charged him with murdering Strydom.
The suspect led police to two other men, but at this stage they are not being connected with the murder. However, the same two men were arrested on Sunday morning after police found some of Strydom’s stolen property in their possession.

Or haven’t you even heard the truth has been exposed to such an extent that the ANC and PAC are slinging mud at each other today over which party organised the “peaceful protest” on that day – because with the truth being spread, the “organisers” who dished out pangas and machetes and incited the crowds to storm the police station, look really bad.
