Speaking at the funerals of two police officers killed in the line of duty, South African National police commissioner General Bheki Cele announced Tuesday that more than 10,000 cops are sitting in the country’s jails.
Cele did not say how many crooked cops were already sentenced or awaiting trial, but he did single out Mpumalanga province as being especially rotten.
“This province is horrible when it comes to corrupt police officers,” Cele said. “Members of the organized crime unit in this province fight each other because they want to steal exhibits for themselves.”
“One day you arrest people with 13 bags of dagga, the next day you find only three,” said Cele.
The Independent Complaints Directorate said a complete statistic on crooked South African cops would be released in September.

If the cops in jail are black then the people who put them there are obviously racist.
But all the while experienced white cops are let go or refused promotion based on their skin colour.

What’s the SA source of that article TRP?
@Aryan:
The sources are The Sowetowan, and News24. Both legit news sources from SA.
I embedded the links in the article. The links are colored red. Do you not see them? Perhaps the color scheme is too subtle for some eyes, if it is let me know. Thanks.
Oops, yep I got it NewsGuy. Sorry I looked and clicked on "tagged with" only :-))
dagga?
what does dagga have to do with anything?
If they stop arresting soft targets, maybe they would actually have the time to fight real crime – like corruption in the police force, murder, rape…etc.
This is a catch 22.
