SA Tabloid Continues Pushing Gay ETB Rumor

Logo of The Saturday StarThe South African tabloid that sparked charges of Eugene Terreblanche‘s murder was the result of a gay tryst gone wrong is continuing to push the now-discredited story, implying that “White men” are intimidating people into silence.

The Saturday Star reported on April 17th that three minors were found at the crime scene the day Terreblanche was killed; one confessed to taking part in the murder, and the other two “were whisked away to a place of safety, where they remain this weekend, two weeks later.”

As with its original report of a used condom found at the crime scene, the tabloid prints rumor as fact by writing the children “were either witnesses to the murder of Terre’Blanche or were victims themselves.”

The Star does not acknowledge that their original condom story was quickly debunked by police hours after its publication, nor does it note that the spokeswoman who exposed the story as a lie was quickly taken off the case. It does quote a source from The Hawks that says the investigation unit is going with the original police claims that no used condom was found:

“The Hawks said the original investigators on the scene had told them they had not seen any condom, so they would work on the basis that there was no condom.”

The Star also implies that Puna Moroko, the lawyer representing 28-year-old accused Chris Malangu, was intimidated by “white men” into changing his client’s defense strategy from a gay-tryst-gone-wrong to one of self-defense from physical abuse from Terreblanche:

“Meanwhile, Ventersdorp farmworkers, who know the 15-year-old boy and the 28-year-old man accused of bludgeoning the rightwinger to death in his farmhouse bedroom, have reported that, on the day before the two suspects appeared in court to apply for bail, white men in two-tone shirts had been to the house of the 15-year-old’s mother in Tshing township and photographed it and its approaches extensively.”

[....]

Mahlangu’s own lawyer, Puna Moroko, went on the record to tell the Sunday Times unequivocally that his client had been sodomised by Terre’Blanche, sparking his brutal murder.

[....]

On Wednesday, the day after suspected rightwingers were seen outside the minor accused’s family home, Moroko retracted everything.”

The Star notes that Zola Majavu, the attorney representing the 15-year-old-boy, says he was not aware that anyone had been spotted outside the family house. “I met with (the family) on Wednesday, and they didn’t say anything to me,” he said.

The online edition of the article gives no author, but credits a Thabiso Thakali as having contributed “additional reporting.”

Sorry for the spam, but it turns out Moegsien Williams was also the editor of The Soweton from 1991 to 1995. The Soweton, whose sole readership are blacks was used as a propaganda machine against the white government during those years. Are we suppose to believe that this guy will present unbiased reporting and news?

Not spam at all! Very interesting points indeed. Thanks! -Admin

This is written by Moegsien Williams on the About Us page of The Star’s website:

“Our country is in a state of flux, desperately seeking to invent a new national culture, one that unites our rainbow nation while allowing vibrant individual cultures to flourish. It is The Star’s task to be the guiding light for our nation, inspired by our leaders and readers.

We will be supportive of the good, teach tolerance of everyone’s best attempts, kindly in criticism but preaching intolerance of crime in communities or corruption in governance.

On our front page, in our centre pages, in sports columns, business reports and in our letters columns, we will promote the positive aspects of our society, guide ourselves and others towards a better nation built upon fundamental human rights. We will rally against racism and sexism wherever it occurs, but we will try to change attitudes gently – not with brash and strident shrieking. We will be tolerant even of our rivals, turning away carping criticism by showing consistent quality in our journalism, sticking to the truth whatever the cost in popularity.

On all issues we will give guidance. We trust our ability to involve readers, debate the country’s leaders, extract the best thinking from academics, stir in the thoughts of people on the streets, offices and houses of South Africa’s biggest city, mix in good ideas from our rainbow nation before offering The Star as a clear and present guiding light to a better, prouder, united South African society.”

Typical liberal garbage. They still think this “rainbow nation” is going to be a success. Of course a country built on lies will eventually come tumbling down. The wheel turns Moegsien, soon very few people will believe your lies any more. You will eat your own words the day Julius Malema becomes president.
