The head of South Africa’s largest farmers union says the savage murder of AWB leader Eugene Terreblanche was “probably involving government” and politically motivated.
The weekend murder of Terreblanche “does not relate to the alleged motive,” said Ben Marais, president of the Transvaal Agricultural Union (TAU/SA), in a press release Tuesday.
The “TAU SA is convinced, based on evidence, that the murder of Mr. Terre’Blanche was no ordinary crime, but a political murder, probably involving government.”
Making reference to the controversy surrounding the repeated singing of “Kill the Boer” by ANCYL leader Julius Malema, Marais said, “If we look at the course of events during the previous weeks, an upsetting pattern has materialized, in which the murder of Mr. Eugene Terre’Blache is but one incident.”
Since the controversy surround “Kill the Boer” started, plaasmorde incidents have increased significantly. Another farming union, AgriSA, notes that a plaasmorde attack has occurred every weekend since January.
“Since the murder of Mr. Terre’Blanche TAU SA noted that an increasing number of cases appeared reflecting labour related issues. Farmers should be mindful that it seems as if this is the latest cause for disputes declared,” Mr. Marais warned.
”Perhaps the time has now come to make a serious appeal to farmers to reduce their workforce and to mechanize for the sake of security and peace of mind.”
Regarding reports that the ANC plans a Zimbabwe-styled land grab after the 2010 World Cup Games, Marais called on farmers to “improve their self-defence abilities, including firearm skills, in order to defend themselves effectively.”
“It is therefore necessary to activate shooting clubs and to implement contingency plans,” Marais said.
The ANC denies it has muzzled Malema and the ANCYL from making any further comments.
Spokeswoman for the Young Communist League (YCL) Gugu Ndima called the TAU/SA statement “divisive and irresponsible.”

Well, he was a modern-day Mussolini, so that's to be expected.
Given the confused and contradictory nonsense we are now being fed about the motive for the killing, it would appear that it could well have been a planned ‘execution’.
