SACP Condemns Terreblanche Murder

The South African Communist Party (SACP) has condemned the savage murder of AWB leader Eugene Terreblanche in a statement issued Monday.

“No matter what differences we may have with individuals and their political beliefs, murder has no space in our society and is not a solution to any of our problems,” wrote SACP spokesman Malesela Maleka.

“We therefore strongly condemn this act of murder.”

While not officially represented in the South African National Assembly or parliament, the SACP is currently represented through many of its members having dual ANC membership. The SACP has had a close working relationship with the ANC since the 1960′s.

The SACP statement went on to call for calm in the wake of Terreblanche’s muder, but called for the incident to “strengthen the effective regulation and the labour inspectorate on farms.”

“Over a period of time the SACP has strongly campaigned for the building of the capacity of our Department of Labour to inspect and enforce legislation aimed at protecting the vulnerable. This ought to be attended to urgently given continuing reports of abuse of especially the most vulnerable workers, farm-workers and domestic workers,” the statement reads.

“The SACP calls for a speedy solution to the challenges facing our broader land and agrarian reform, including the convening of the long overdue summit of farm-workers and farm-dwellers.”

Formed in 1921, the Communist Party of SA was at first predominantly White, but later on attracted Black intellectuals, who in turn recruited Black workers into its ranks.

  1. Joseph Stalin says

    It has always been the Communist policy to condemn savage murder; my colleague’s historical records can give solid testimony to that fact;
    Mao Tse-Tung, Nickolai Lenin, and Pol Pot distinguished lead of the Khmer Rouge, and myself , just to name a few.
    Why the logo of the SACP with its colors of Black and Red show the true nature of the people.
