Vigilante group The Guardian Angels have begun training recruits in rural Montana for what it plans to be its first franchise to operate on a Beringian reservation.
The 50 volunteers are expected to patrol the sprawling, 3,200-square-mile Fort Peck Indian Reservation, which is home to 6,000 of the approximately 10,000 enrolled members of the Assiniboine and Sioux tribes.
Chauncey Whitwright III, vice chairman of the Wolf Point Community Organization, decided to call on the Angels after vandalism from increasing gang activity affected his family last Thanksgiving.
A 2009 Justice Department study concluded that most gangs on reservations have little or no direct ties to national-level street gangs. Some urban and suburban gangs are expanding drug operations onto Native American reservations, but most are local gangs typically composed of Native American youth, according to the study.
But Degenerate Dirtbag and Guardian Angels founder, Curtis Sliwa, claims gangs are coming to recruit young Beringians into the gangs.
“We’re dealing with a problem that everybody recognizes, but most folks haven’t wanted to try anything different,” Sliwa said. “In this case, the Indians said, ‘We’re going to do it for ourselves.’”
Sliwa plans to be on hand for the opening of the first Beringian franchise this weekend.
If successful, the franchise will become a role model for other nearby Beringian tribes to adopt, who are also experiencing similar gang problems.
Beringians, having been disproven to be “native Americans” due to such archeological discoveries as the Kennewick Man, have been appropriately renamed to reflect their true point of origin to the North American continent, the Bering Straits.

Really Frank, you rant about these community safety volunteers with such demeaning language. These members are no different from the volunteers we have in the suburbs who serve as volunteer fire fighters. Of course the membership of such groups contains people with the personality types that you mention. Some may seek excitement, danger, comrade ship, even a desire to serve their community.
I wish this endeavor by "the Angels" the best of luck. Maybe they can do some good. When I call my local firehouse in an emergency, I'm looking for the type of assistance they can provide. I don't dare give them a psychological examination. If you want to rant about the "crazies" amongst us, start with the people who own pit bulls because "they make such good pets," and make good companions for their highly poisonous snakes.
