Former skinhead Pawel, now Orthodox Jew Pinchas
A neo-nazi skinhead has converted to Orthodox Judaism after finding out he is of Jewish descent.
“I still struggle every day to discard my past ideas,” 22-year-old Pawel told The New York Times. “When I look at an old picture of myself as a skinhead, I feel ashamed. Every day I try and do teshuvah [Hebrew for repentance]. Every minute of every day. There is a lot to make up for.”
Many in the White Nationalist movement have left for the other side over the years. New Jersey Klan leader Joe Bednarsky now runs an anti-racist Christian ministry for example, while former Aryan Nations spokesman and recruiter Floyd Cochran is now a leading anti-racist spokesman. But Pawel, who also uses his Hebrew name Pinchas and does not give out his last name out fear of recrimination from his former skinhead friends, is beyond the pale.

Baptized a Catholic, Pawel embraced the skinhead lifestyle as a form of escape from the drab existence of Soviet-styled Socialism. “Oy vey, I hate to admit it, but we would beat up local Jewish and Arab kids and homeless people,” Pawel said. “We sang about stupid stuff like Satan and killing people. We believed that Poland should only be for Poles.”
Growing up, Pawel always had a feeling something was not exactly right about his family’s Catholicism. His father was fond of quoting The Old Testament, and his grandfather would drop hints here and there.
“One time when I told my grandfather that Jews were bad, he exploded and screamed at me, ‘If I ever hear you say such a thing again under my roof, you will never come back!,’ ” he remembers.
At age 18, Pawel joined the army and married a skinhead girl. But his identity changed forever at the age of 22, reports The Times:
His wife, Paulina, suspecting that she had Jewish roots, went to a genealogical institute and discovered Pawel’s maternal grandparents on a register of Warsaw Jews, along with her own grandparents.
When Pawel confronted his parents, he said, they broke down and told him the truth: his maternal grandmother was Jewish and had survived the war by being hidden in a monastery by a group of nuns. His paternal grandfather, also a Jew, had seven brother and sisters, most of whom had perished in the Holocaust.

“I went to my parents and said, ‘What the hell’? Imagine, I was a neo-Nazi and heard this news? I couldn’t look in the mirror for weeks,” he said. “My parents were the typical offspring of Jewish survivors of the war, who decided to conceal their Jewish identity to try and protect their family.”
After weeks of cloistered and tortured reflection, Pawel finally emerged wanting to convert to Orthodox Judaism . He acknowledged that he was drawn to extremes and that his transformation was like being reborn. He even forced himself to reread “Mein Kampf” but could not get to the end because he felt physically repulsed.
“When I asked a rabbi, ‘Why do I feel this way?’ he replied, ‘The sleeping souls of your ancestors are calling out to you.’ ”
At age 24, he was circumcised. Two years later, he decided to become an ultra-Orthodox Jew. He and his wife are raising their two children in a Jewish home.
Pawel noted that he was still singled out by the same anti-Semites who once counted him among their ranks. “When younger people see me on the street with my top hat and side curls they sometimes laugh at me,” he said. “But it is the old ladies who are the meanest. Sometimes, they use the language I used when I was a skinhead and say, ‘Get out and go back to your country’ or ‘Jew go home!’ ”
And now he is studying to become a shochet, a person charged with killing animals according to Jewish dietary laws. “I am good with knives,” he explained.

rts that Pawel’s conversion is a perfect metaphor for Poland’s turn from its anti-Semitic past to being considered Israel’s strongest ally in the European Union.
“Before 1989 there was a feeling that it was not safe to say, ‘I am a Jew,’ ” Rabbi Schudrich told The Times. “But two decades later, there is a growing feeling that Jews are a missing limb in Poland. The level of anti-Semitism remains unacceptable, but the image of the murderous Pole seared in the consciousness of many Jews after the war doesn’t correspond to the Poland of 2010.”

Judaism is actually a religion, a culture, and a race.
We all understand the religious part, and the cultural part is explained through the usual things that make up a culture – thought, food, language, art, etc. There are distinctly Jewish things that make up a Jewish culture.
The racial aspect comes from the Rabbinical Law, which states that you are a Jew if your mother is a Jew.
Even though we understand race to be biological, Jews made up their own version of what is a race which has no real basis in hard science, it’s just that their rabbis said it and so it must be.
So what happens if your father is Jewish and your mom is not? Good question! Go ask a rabbi and see what bullshit he slings, it should be good for a laugh.

I do agree that those in the literary field need to be more conscious about using the term Skinhead and not recognizing it's true origins. Most people are unaware that Skinheads were and are a sub-culture with it's roots in working class England and the Jamaican immigrants who lived there. However it is important to realize and recognize that unfortunately over time Neo-Nazi and other Racist gangs have adopted some of the dress of the Skinhead and refer to themselves as Skinheads. This unfortunate circumstance is largely due to the efforts of "The National Front" in Britain who where able to attract white working class individuals in Britain and persuade them into their ideas and called it being a Skinhead. I find that as someone who knows what being a "Traditional" Skinhead is about it is important to educate those around me who don't. Too much time is waisted with Skinheads yelling at people who just don't know what they are about. Let the world know that being a Skinhead isn't about being racist or prejudice. It's about having pride in yourself and your culture whatever that might be. I've met Black,White,Asian, Latino, Arab, and Jewish Skinheads too! Actually there is often a ethnic/biological part of being Jewish too. Askenazi and Sephardi Jews are unique genetically from the majority populations in the countries where their communities flourished for a millennia, similar to the Roma Gypsies. Ethnic or cultural Jewishness can be separated from the religious aspect.

Hey Shaun, it looks like you found a follower in Mkemeyers. Excelent. Well the term Hebrew, Israelite and Jew have historically been used synonymously and interchangeably. The Bible refers to Ambraham as Ibri ( Hebrew), probably because he migrated from the other side ( east) of the Euphrates River and Ibri means "from the other side". Israel was the alternate name of Jacob, the grandson of Abraham. Hence his twelve sons and their descendants became known as the children of Israel, or the Israelite nation or People. Jew is derived from Judah, the son of Israel, the most prominent of the twelve tribes. This became the prevalent name for the entire people when the Judeans from the Kingdon of Judea survived the downfall of the Northen Kingdon of Israel in 722 B.C.E. when Ten Tribes were led into captivity. Thus Today the people are called Jewish, their faith Judaism, their language Hebrew and their land Israel.
This people , Israel started life as one family tracing its antecendents back to Abraham, the Hebrew who lived approximately 4000 years ago. The monotheistic faith held by Abraham, and the " Covenenant with God" entered into by him and reaffirmd by his descendants, identified this family as the adherents of a special faith.
The family did not claim exclusive rights to this faith, but on the contrary, were eager to attract others to it. In the very emphasis upon the particular, this singular family reflected the noblest form of universalism. The Jewish Nose.
Dr. Max Nordau, of Jewish-Hungarian descent (See “Bible Research Handbook”),
confirms that the arched nose usually called “Jewish”, is actually not Semitic at
all, but of non-Hebrew origin – (See e.g. the straight nose of the Arab, and he is a
descendant of Abraham). It appears in the modern Jew because in the past he
very strongly intermarried with the Hittites. The nose of the pure Israelite is
completely straight. Thus Dr. Nordau.
It is a well-known fact that the Jews are not a people of one race. According to
the views of, for instance Professors Huxley, Haddon and Carr Saunders:

In the course of our study we will still bring many other facts to the fore. These
few facts have been given at this stage in the hope that the light will here at the
beginning of God’s Covenant with Israel begin to dawn for you; that you will begin
to realize more and more the mighty part we Christian Nations have to play in
these closing days of time in God’s plan for the Ages.
Most Hebrews not Jews.
Beginning with Adam, we have the start, not only of chronology, but also of the
genealogical tables of the Bible. There are ten generations from Adam to Noah,
and ten generations from Shem (Noah’s son) to Abraham. Eber or Heber was the
fourth in generation from Shem. All the descendants of Heber were Hebrews.
Abraham was six generations later. He, therefore, was a Hebrew. The Hebrews
were not Jews, because Judah, from whom the Jews descended, was not yet
born. When the time came that there were Jews on the earth, of course they also
were Hebrews – a very small portion of them – but great mass of Hebrews were
not Jews, and are not today.
Let us closely follow the facts:
Abraham had eight sons.
One son was Ishmael, whose mother was Hagar.
One son was Isaac, whose mother was Sarah.
After Sarah’s death, Abraham married Keturah, and she bore unto him six sons.
Abraham, being a Hebrew or descendant of Heber, his descendants would of
course be Hebrews, and their descendants would also be Hebrews, but their
descendants are not Jews. If they are, then Ishmael was a Jew, and as the Arabs
are the descendants of Ishmael, that would make the Arabs – Jews. The
descendants of Keturah’s six sons developed into some of the Indian Tribes.
Thus F.F. Bosworth in: The Bible Distinction between “The House of Israel”
and “The House of Judah”.
“See Gen. 25. It would be foolish to declare that they are Jews, although, as the
descendants of Abraham, they are of the stock of Heber, and therefore Hebrews.
The same reasoning applies to Isaac.
Isaac was a Hebrew, the son of Abraham.
Now Isaac had two sons, Esau and Jacob.
If Isaac were a Jew, then both Esau and Jacob would be Jews. This would make
the descendants of Esau also Jews, but the descendants of Esau became the
Edomites, later the Turks; also the Pharaoh’s of the oppression were of the Esau
line (according to Bosworth), but none of these people are Jews”.
To call Abraham a Jew, would make him a descendant of Isaac’s yet unborn
grandson Judah. The tribe of Judah had no existence on earth during the time of
Abraham and Isaac. If Isaac were a Jew, then surely his twin sons, Jacob and
Esau, would be Jews.
We all know that Esau, Jacob’s twin brother, became the
progenitor of the Turks, as they are known today. If Jacob were a Jew, how could
it be that his twin brother would not be, since they were both of the same father
and mother?
Descendants do not name their Ancestors.
Jacob, one of these twin brothers, had 12 sons, which came from four different
mothers. None of these 12 sons were Jews. One of his 12 sons was Judah, but
in the sense in which we use the word “Jew” today, the term cannot be applied to
Judah, for he was not a Jew, because of the fact that they whom we call Jews
today have certain characteristics and are racially a type that came into existence
hundreds of years after Israel left Egypt.
This racial type or remnant we know as the Jews is only a small portion of the
descendants of Judah who was only one of the 12 sons of Jacob. There are no
Jews among any of the descendants of the other sons of Jacob, except from
among the tribes of Benjamin and Levi who ultimately resorted under the house of
Judah.
Abraham was the father of Isaac; Isaac was the father of Jacob; Jacob, who was
later named “Israel”, became the father of:
Reuben Simeon Levi Judah
Dan Naphtali Gad Asher
Issachar Zebulon Joseph Benjamin.
The 12 sons each became the head of a Tribe called after his own personal
name. From Judah, the fourth son of Jacob, are descended the Jews; the word
“Jew” being simply an abbreviation of the name “Judah”. A glance at the
genealogy will show that it is impossible for Abraham, or Israel, or Jacob, to have
been Jews.
Only the descendants of Judah – those coming after him and from him, could be
called by his name – not his ancestors. No one had ever been named “Judah”
until more than 200 years Abraham was named. Suppose your parents gave you
the name of Charles, which does not name you ancestors, who lived 200 years
before you, Charles. And naming Jacob’s fourth son – Judah, would not make
Abraham, his great, great grandfather, a Jew.

If you overlap a map of ancient Scythia and a map of Khazaria you will see they are the same. Now if you go to Gen. 10:1-3 or I Chr. 1:4-6 like the Encyclopedia of Judaism notes you will see that Noah had three sons, Shem (or Sem), Ham (or Cham), and Japheth. Semites stem from Sem. Ashkenazim Jews stem from Ashkenaz, grandson of Japheth, so 90% of Jews are not even Semites. And that is from Jewish sources. Many Ashkenazim Jews realize their Turkic Khazarian heritage these days and write about it. Also both Gen. 10 and I Chr. 1 say one of Japheth’s sons was Magog.

oh, by the way, the khazars got wiped out, The jews always survived,
also, the khazars did convert to judaism. this was the result of a grand debate between a priest, a mufti and a Rabbi. (i believe rabbi Yehudah Levi). Point is, i have read those few books, who say that it was a political decision, and that all jews today are descended from them… Well here is a difficulty in that… I happen to be a ‘Kohen’, in judaism, that means that my lineage from father to son, all the way back to the temple in Israel 2,000+ years ago is unbroken, and that i am from the family of priests in the temple. A jew can only be a priest with unbroken lineage and therefore in every generation every jew has known whether he was a priest, levite or israelite, and passed this information down to their sons. I know people who have family trees that take them all the way back to Aron (the brother of Moses, and the first priest). My uncle can track my own family tree all the way back too. So, um, just because someone came up with a theory, do NOT jump on the bandwagon.
