South African authorities have seized a shipment of tank parts from North Korea headed for the Congo Republic.
The T-54 and T-55 tank parts were first loaded onto a ship in China, and then transferred to a French-owned vessel in Malaysia.
The shipment was seized last November when South African authorities were notified of the cargo by its French transporters, who did not know what they were carrying and found out half-way through their voyage.
South Africa has reported the incident to the United Nations Security Council.
Several Western diplomats claim the shipment violates Security Council Resolution 1874, which banned all North Korean arms exports in response to its nuclear test last year.

I always wondered where old Russian scrap ended up!
Sounds like a kickback since the Congo is a source of uranium and in fact some it’s uranium was used in the Manhattan Project during WWII. Link to an article about illegal uranium mining in the Congo last Nov by coincidence

You’ll also notice how N.Korea used China as a third-party intermediary to send the shipment of arms to the Congo.
I wonder if that’s how N. Korea got the uranium, from the Congo via Chinese commercial vessels.
I think there is a North Korea – Congo – Sudan connection.
