Big and Black? Karl Mayberry
A heavy-set, African-American man is suing Pizza Hut because he claims his receipt from the restaurant called him “big” and “black.”
“At first I thought maybe this was some type of promotional,” said St. Louis, Missouri resident Karl Mayberry. “This had to be the name of a pizza that I didn’t know.”
But instead of the name of a pizza, the words “big” and “black” were meant to describe the customer. Mayberry even double-checked with other receipts just to make sure he was misreading something.
To make matters worse, the whole thing happened on Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday.
“To be an African-American male and have that type of injustice done to you, especially by a Caucasian, on Martin Luther King holiday, it just threw me so hard,” Mayberry said.
Racist?
The embarrassed restaurant chain offered Mayberry a letter of apology and two $50 gift certificates for the mistake. Employees at the store where the incident occurred have undergone training to make sure this kind of thing does not happen again.
Mayberry is still not happy with the outcome and plans to sue Pizza Hut for what happened. He also has donated the gift certificates to a local homeless shelter.
“It’s good that they did manage to step up and do something, but still they have not addressed Karl Mayberry’s problem,” he said. “First you’ve got to deal with Karl then you deal with everyone else.”

Maybe you can call Hussein Obummer and he can hold a press conference saying that Pizza Hut acted “stupidly” and that they might wish to “recalibrate” their computers. Then all three of you can hold a “pizza summit” on the south lawn of the White House with Joe Biden in attendance as he plays “pocket pool” wearing his jammies.

I listened to this guy talk on Mark Reardon's show which airs on KMOX. He said that he was not happy with the time it took for Pizza Hut to respond to this. Let me tell you how it works because I know. I worked for Pizza Hut as a manager. A customer complains online, that complaint is forwarded to the store and several people in the chain of command with Pizza Hut, namely the Districk manager and his boss. The Asssistant manager met with this guy, I guess he wasn't happy with the results of that meeting so the districk manager met with him too. These things take time, these people are busy.
I listened to this guy, and I got the distinct impression that Karl Mayberry is just out to make some money. When asked if this could have been an innocent non racist remark, Karl danced around the question. And of course when he was asked what could Pizza Hut do to make him happy, he lawyered up. There is nothing racist about "Big Black" I mean he is big right? He is black right? This guy is just playing the race card for his 15 minutes of fame and to make some bucks. It is truly dissapointing, way to go Karl! You set the worst kind of example for black people, hell for that matter, white, hispanic and asian people too!

People in the service industry do this all the time. I used to go to a bar where one bartender there would always name my tab “Camels”, because that’s what I smoked. People use short descriptive cues so they can keep track of things, not to be rude. Some Black people just hate the fact that they’re Black. Shit, can you blame them…lol
Another black hits the “lottery”, another jew lawyer gets a commission, and all at the cost of the consumer because some idiot can’t handle how others see him. Pizza Hut should fire the employee and tell this guy to hit the bricks. What’s he going to do? Rally a Pizza Hut protest? They’re practically broke anyway. One dink gets a payday while a business goes under and thousands of jobs slowly disappear.
Maybe this will be the magic negro to get the economy going. Why not pump some money into the Old English, Phillies blunt, and Kool markets?

Pizza Hut should manned up and stould have up behind the employee and not give this idiot one penny. I am tired of white people being accused of racism of such small little incidents like this!!!! It happens all the time to white people!!!! If the words were BIG CRACKER. Do you think that there would be such a big stink about it. HELL NO !!!!!! You know what Iam talking about people. Wow, almost every site I’ve been to with this story has been full of white supremacist assholes who can see flaws in this guy, but are oblivious to their own obvious flaws…(Prejudice, “superior complex”, etc). I agree that he shouldn’t have taken it this far, but, you really have no idea how the prejudice faced by blacks for so long has affected how people think… But you say you know what it’s like to face prejudice, and maybe you do to a degree, but you’re mostly just trying to justify your remarks towards this issue. Read “Black like me.” It’s a book written by a white man who got injected to become a “black man” to really walk in a black man’s shoes in the south, I believe in the 50′s, to get some perspective. You have know Idea what it’s like to be a 19 year old African American who’s still feared when she goes into certain places, who isn’t “thugged out” and doesn’t “talk ghetto.” This country still has so far to go… And I guess we’ll never really get there, wherever “there” is, because we’re humans, and humans will always fear, always judge, always find someone to look down on.
