Consumers are voting a resounding “YESSSSSSS!!!!” with their wallets, as mugs, t-shirts, and other merchandise featuring former US President George W. Bush asking, “Miss me yet?” are flying off the virtual shelves at online stores.
Ten items featuring the phrase, popularized by a Minnesota billboard that has sent progressives into a tizzy, are found among the top 100 best-sellers on CafePress.com’s online store, reports spokeswoman Jenna Martin. “There were no Obama-themed designs on the list,” she told The New York Daily News. “Bush has stolen the political spotlight, just like Sarah Palin did the week before when she re-surfaced with crib notes written in her palm.”
In contrast, sales of merchandise featuring the image of current president Barack Obama have fizzled, with an Obama-themed store in the tourist section of Washington, DC having recently gone out of business. U.S. News and World Report called the store’s closing “the most tangible sign yet that the [Obama] honeymoon is over.”
