The long and bitter fight to change the name of Pretoria, South Africa has ended, with the city officially staying true to its original Afrikaner name.
AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel broke the news in a press release, saying that Minister of Arts and Culture Lulu Xingwana complied with the Afrikaner-rights group’s request to retract the name change of Pretoria to Tshwane.
“Pretoria’s name is now officially Pretoria again,” Kriel said.
Kriel credited AfriForum’s legal team and supporters for preventing the name change.
He also thanked ‘Xingwana’ for being “big-hearted enough to withdraw the name change”.
The Government Gazette last week published the ministry’s intention to change the geographic name Pretoria to that of its municipal name Tshwane. The ministry said that it would withdraw the change due to “technical matters”.

Pretoria is really a Latin name. Since a praetor in Latin is a leader, Pretoria basically means capital.
So Kallie Kriel of AfriForum believes this ANC stalwart. It’s amazing how some Afrikaaners never seem to want to learn anything from history. It’s just a matter of time before these Commies will use their Hammer and ‘Chisel’ again to have the name changed back to their choice. All we need is loud-mouthed Malema to come onto the stage again.
Nah, to me it’s never forget the Dingaan/Retief story – NEVER EVER !!!
