Obama: One Term President?

In an exclusive interview with American television network ABC, Barack Obama said he would “rather be a really good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president.”

The Monday interview, given in the wake of the stunning Republican victory for the US Senate seat in Massachusetts, came two days before Obama gave his first State of the Union speech.

Although the Republican victory is seen by many as having derailed his hallmark Universal Health Care program, Obama said he would not give up on the project. “I will not slow down in terms of going after the big problems that this country faces,” Obama told interviewer Diane Sawyer. “The easiest thing for me to do, Diane, would be to go small bore, avoid controversy, just make sure that everybody’s comfortable and we only propose things that don’t threaten any special interests in Washington. If you do that, then you can get a boost in the poll numbers.”

Obama admitted to having made “a mistake a day.”  “I think the health care debate as it unfolded legitimately raised concerns not just among my opponents, but also amongst reporters that we just don’t know what’s going on,” adding that some “stray cats” got in the bill.

I would have imagined that to qualify as a good president, you have to start out by being honest. He has already failed that requirement.

Apart from his over-inflated ego, extreme socialist views and underhanded tactics, his utter arrogance reminds me of the typical graduate who enters the work force with the belief that they know everything, that they know best and that you should feel honored to have them in your presence. After a week they usually come to the conclusion that even the janitor knows more…

God Bless the President of the United States. It’s good to know someone is going to bat for the working class American against the special interests and fat cats who are buying the Republican party off. The Republicans these days preech liberty, but to them that only means the economic freedom for corporations to do whatever they want. They don’t believe in real personal political freedom.

The Democrats may not believe in economic freedom, but they uphold the value for people to freely express themselves politically, including those who spew hateful rhetoric at them ever day. As a libertarian, if I had to choose (and with the current political party alignment, I do) I’ll take political freedom over economic freedom any day.

America shouldn’t have to settle for second place. If I wanted to live in a place with limited government or laws I’d move to Somalia. Taxes are like paying rent, you get what you pay for, and the higher the rent the better the neighborhood is, so where do you want to live, in a low rent country or a high rent country?
