A British employment agency has been ordered to not place an ad looking for “reliable” workers – because it would discriminate against “unreliable” applicants.

The Job Centre Plus in Thetford, Norfolk, told human resources director Nicole Mamo that her advert looking for a £5.80-an-hour domestic cleaner would not be placed because the word ‘reliable’ meant they could be sued for discriminating against unreliable workers.

“I laughed because I thought that was crazy. We supply the NHS with staff so it’s very important for the patients that we have reliable workers,” said Mamo.

The Job Centre in Thetford, Norfolk, said the advert discriminated against unreliable people.

“We find jobs for hundreds of temporary staff every week and are proud of our workers but our reputation is at stake if they aren’t reliable,” Mamo said. “We are taking people off the dole and finding them jobs so not displaying the advert just seems absolutely ridiculous to me.”

A spokeswoman for the Campaign Against Political Correctness described the decision not to display Nicole’s advert as ‘ridiculous’.

She said: ‘This situation is absolutely ridiculous – of course people want reliable workers and of course employers should be able to ask for them.

‘If they can’t advertise for what they actually want then the system is broken. They won’t be able to find workers who meet their criteria.

‘In order to have decided that the word “reliable” can’t be used they must have put a great deal of thought and time into it.

‘That time could be better spent getting the right people to apply for the right jobs – which is what this advert was trying to do in the first place.’

Political correctness taken to it’s logical conclusion->insanity.

I wonder if the paper would let them run an ad that advertises for unreliable workers. Then that would be unfair to the reliable workers. Would that be an issue for the paper?

Don't hire anyone. Shut the business down. Go on welfare and let the stupid working class support you. Don't worry, they'll make more money. Hyperinflation? What's that? We don't care! Gibs me more! I'm unreliable and I'm entitled to something because it exists! Why can't you understand that? Now get back to work and put my application in the trash. Working is for suckers. Excuse me while I go buy a big tv and a new sail fawn.
