Two New York City police officers have been suspended without pay after a video surfaced showing them punching a handcuffed suspect in the head.

The video, obtained by The New York Daily News, shows Officer John Cicero, 28, repeatedly punching Jonathan Baez, 28, in the head as he lies splayed and handcuffed on the sidewalk.
Officer William Green, 26, also is seen allegedly punching and kicking the defenseless man.
Additionally, two sergeants – Junior Carela and Phillip Connor – who witnessed the attack but did not intervene, were put on desk duty.
The incident occurred on January 5th during a drug bust gone wrong. Baez was one of eight arrested that night. Police later dropped charges of obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.
Louis Miranda
A friend of Baez, Louis Miranda, told the New York Post that he too was assaulted by officers, and that in his case the violence was “even worse” than what was caught on film.
Baez’s lawyer said the incident was “not an isolated one” the only difference being his client’s assault was caught on tape.
Both Baez and Miranda plan to sue the police department.

If the NYPD is smart they’ll settle out of court for a large six figure sum.
I agree they are screwed, though the punches didn't look like they were particularly vicious. They sort of looked like half hearted smacking.
Wait a minute! I'm having a vision! If you don't want to get punched in the head by cops, DON'T GET ARRESTED! What? Yes, A + B = C. If C is happening, you obviously included A and B. Holy hell, this country is doomed if it continues to cater to every little whim of criminals and special interest groups. I can only hope the reversal of all this petty nonsense creates a state of fear and respect for authority figures. And I don't mean for some dope with a teleprompter! All politicians should be lined up in cuffs and hit in the head a few times too!
