For the fourth time in two years, the Guardian Angels have failed to garner any real interest from residents in Meridian, Mississippi in starting up a franchise there.
“I’m beginning to wonder if anyone here cares,” Guardian Angel member Fred Harvey of Jackson told The Meridian Star.
As in most every place the Angels set up shop, they blow into town with a big sound and fury - and plenty of media attention – then quietly die off due to various reasons. In this fourth attempt at setting up a franchise in Meridian, the Angels have only gotten one person interested in finding out more about the group.
Jackson, Mississippi leader Lamar Hall told The Right Perspective that in each of the previous three tries, some citizens showed initial interest but then never followed up.
The one individual who did show interest during the Angels’ all-day membership drive, former corrections officer and Vietnam vet Danny Cooper, is actually from neighboring Clarke Country, although he said he would like to help out Meridian as well.
“If everyone would get involved in their communities the world would be a better and safer place for our children and elderly,” Cooper said.
