Dean stated that he wanted the bill passed in the Senate without the public option being removed in order to please Republicans or conservative Democrats. I proposed that the process around passage be restructured so that only a clear majority (51%) of votes would be needed. He certainly never said anything about defeating the bill in its current form, rather, he aimed to get the bill passed in its current form. This is misleading in the extreme.
