New Hampshire talk radio host Doug Lambert has lost his radio gig, the friendship of his co-host, his newspaper column, and his position with Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta’s congressional campaign – all for calling the local Democrat Party chairman “faggot” on the air.
The incident occurred last Saturday morning at the end of his show, “Meet the New Press”. Although the show had ended at 11am, it was still streaming over the Internet. When co-host Skip Murphy suggested they shut off the feed, Lambert looked into the camera and said, “Speaking of gays, Happy Birthday [New Hampshire Democrat Party Chairman] Ray Buckley.” Lambert then did a dance and continued, “Yeah, you faggot. That’s right I said it, and I meant it. You are reprobate. How the people, the Democrats – I think of some of the gray-haired ladies and older people from the old party – would stand behind you is beyond me. You are a disgrace to yourself, to humanity, to mankind and to your party. Other than that, Happy Birthday Ray and many more – not.”
Reactions were swift, starting with Lacona Daily Sun Ed Engler announcing the termination of Lambert’s weekly column. Next was Nassau Broadcasting, which owns WEMJ 1490 AM, the station that hosted “Meet the New Press,” announcing the cancellation of the show.
Republicans, afraid Lambert’s comments would be tied to the party, severed all ties to the talk radio host and Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta’s congressional campaign.
Even Lambert’s co-host disowned him.
Lambert says he accepts the consequences for his words and will continue to write from his blog, granitegrok.com, where he once said he wished African-American comedienne Wanda Sykes should “choke on a chicken bone or a watermelon rind.”

This does not surprise me. The media is all left wing. They constantly censor people like don imus, You can call a white person “whitey” or “cracker” but, a white person can’t say “nigger” to a black person, even though they call each other that word and claim that it has a different meaning when they say it to each other. It’s just all reverse racism.
Not that you should use derogatory terms, but really people, lighten up a little.
Well, is he? Should sue them for violating his first amendment rights.
Geeze kit you aren’t too much of a fuckin’ moron, are you?
Would you be able to call your co-workers that and get away with it I think not. Since when is slandering someone with viscious language a conservative value. Is this your dream to be able to call black people “niggers” again? At which point is it offensive? If I had even a remotely politically based job such as radio show host or television news anchor, and said “too bad no one aborted those retarded rednecks when they had the chance.” I would be fired for being insensitive to rednecks, retards, conservatives, pro-lifers, and a slew of other idiots. And they would be right.
Ho hum. How boring is this getting to be – one more ignorant conservative mouth who thinks being overtly racist, and otherwise bigoted is somehow brave and honest. This seems to be the right-wing philosophy now. It’s so prevalent that this guy isn’t even a pathbreaker, just a sad pack joiner. Wake up, moron. There are reasons some speech is not tolerated by decent people.
Actually Zak you can say anything bad you want about rednecks in today’s world, no one would bat an eyelash. But go ahead and say “aborted these retarded South Bronx thugs” and you’ll feel the wrath!
Yes the station has a right to fire the guy, but the fact that similar remarks made by people on the left generally go unpunished speaks volumes about who controls the media.
If mommies only kissed other mommies and daddies only kissed other daddies then there wouldn’t be any “holier than thou” liberals to post comments about this story.
Get thy brain out of thy posterior.
People, my only point is this. HIS FIRST AMENDMANT RIGHTS ARE BEING TAKEN AWAY !!! People can call me what ever name they (and don’t think for one second that they have not.) I have learned to look the other way.
“Even Lambert’s co-host disowned him” – NO, I did not! I said that he had done a Really Dumb Thing – but that he remained – and still is – my friend. The account in the Telegraph was wrong.
