I have lived in Nyack for 21 years and have seen many changes and transformations. It is my village, my home. Yes, there are problems in the village, none of which cannot be resolved. As a community, we discuss, we disagree, we compromise, we learn to live with each other. I am 54, not too old to declare: “Nyack Rocks!”
Maybe 10 days ago, I drove through the village and was somewhat amazed to see members of The Guardian Angels hanging out on Main Street. Like some other Nyack residents, I genuinely thought that it was some sort of preparation for Halloween (nice para-military costume, anyone?)
I drove through the village several times on Saturday. I parked to observe. I saw them loitering at Park and Main Streets and witnessed them harassing and “moving on” four or five Hispanic guys who were hanging out outside what used to be Main Street Wine Store. The Hispanic guys were causing no problem; they were just hanging out.
After that, The Angels moved down to Starbucks. I watched them intimidate some harmless kids who were hanging out there. The kids moved on and The Angels continued to hang out there, laughing, joking, self-congratulating each other.
Excuse me? Did anyone ask these people to come to Nyack?
Nyack does not need The Angels. The village is our village.
Say “No!” to outsiders.

I don’t like Sliwa, but this guy sounds like another conflicted Liberal – why else would the Liberal Journal News publish his letter? This guy was looking for trouble…he stalks the GA going from one location to another, and he has a problem with them loitering, but he has no problems with other “groups” loitering, including illegal aliens who use the streets as public toilets.
The Sliwa stooges have no right to tell anyone to move, their furher, Sliwa has brainwashed these losers into thinking that they are “crimefighters”. Actually, they’re just lowlife punks with no guts to take on real gangs. They are being charged with accessories to a death. The person they told to move fell down laughing at their clown outfits and died! Anytime one of these bums tells someone to move, tell them to go fuck themselves including their furher, Sliwa. In fact, what is he going to do when J.G.jr. is found innocent?
