The South African government’s preoccupation with a Boeremag-like coup from “white racists” has left the country wide open for real terrorist attacks from groups such as Islamic radicals.
This is the conclusion of Hussein Solomon, head of the International Institute of Islamic Studies in South Africa, who made his pronouncement last weekend.
“When I interact with our counter-intelligence people, they are more concerned about the Boeremag than al-Qaeda… But they are acting from an ideological perspective which is fundamentally out of sync with reality,” Solomon said.
The Islamic expert’s statements come after the announcement of a plan by Somali Muslims to attack American interests in South Africa had been thwarted.
“After many years of reporting on and writing about the increasingly besieged ’white’ minority in southern Africa, that there is no threat of any organised violence from the Afrikaner community to the hegemony of the State –rightwing or otherwise,” writes veteran South African journalist Adriana Stuijt.
“The Afrikaner has been plunged into such a fierce battle for economic and personal survival that they have neither the political will nor the economic means to mount any kind of militant attack, also because this would be physically impossible: this white minority obviously cannot ‘hide amongst the population’ as guerillas would normally be able to do,” she writes.
South African state security ministry says they are “well prepared” with security measures for the upcoming 2010 World Cup Games. Israeli intelligence is reportedly working to make sure the Games are terror-free.

The discussion now reduced to ‘Islamophobia’? Are you certain Solomon isn’t a ‘racist’ or ‘oppressor’ as well? I mean, if you’re going to reduce the viability of a discussion to name calling the least you can do is add enough adjectives to eliminate all suspicion that there may be something to the allegations. Solomon is on-point but not because his argument is absolute; rather, he hits the ‘nail on the head’ because YOU validated his argument for him. What wrong possibly attends his observations, other than being an agent of “apartheid israels terror experts’ , ‘Islamophibia’ and he ‘cries wolf’ as you suggest? Given the nature of your response I would intensify research into the likelihood or a terrorist attack. I, for one, would rather be a ‘live Islamophobe’ than a dead ‘non-Islamophobe’.
There is nothing wrong with being an Islamophobe
Islam is the religion that teaches hatred and violence and intolerance, Since September 11, 2001, there have been over 14,205 terrorist attacks, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians and a lot more injuries, throughout the world. The perpetrators of these attacks were not monsters; they were Muslims. Islamic terrorism is a new phenomenon; Islam owes its success to terrorism. The founder of Islam boasted, “I have been made victorious with terror”. Muslim jihadis are following the footsteps of their prophet who bragged, “I have been made victorious with terror”.
It’s amazing how the ANC-propagandists hiding, always behind faux names, will inevitably wave about the ‘apartheid-past’ or level ‘racism’ accusations against the messengers. These ANC-propagandists always, and immediately go for the jugular of the authors of such important reports. Mr Solomon is indeed a highly-respected South African scholar who over the years, has shown great courage and integrity. His analysis is indeed spot-on and is also backed up by a huge body of empirical evidence from many researchers in South Africa who all say exactly the same thing: namely that the greatest threat to South Africa’s internal security has NEVER been the ‘white right-wing racists’ – the great threat to the country’s internal security, besides of course the out-of-control violent crime-gangs — which have already slaughtered some 366,000 people in murders/homicides since March 2002, during the watch of the ANC-government — is the growing islamic militancy from a small group of new residents, often illegal migrants who arrive in the country mainly from islamic communities in Kenya, the Sudan and Somalia.
The South African muslim population itself totals about 500,000 and has never been known for their islamic militancy, on the contrary, they have inevitably concentrated all their efforts on advancing peace in their own communities, following the dictates of the Koran, and I personally have always had a great deal of admiration for this hard-working and genteel community, which I got to know very well as a journalist based in Cape Town. I congratulate Mr Solomon for his great courage in speaking up. It needed to be said.
