Last week’s announcement that conservative talk radio icon Rush Limbaugh wanted to purchase the St. Louis Rams NFL franchise was met with derision by many – particularly African-American football players.
“All I know is from the last comment I heard, he said in (President) Obama’s America, white kids are getting beat up on the bus while black kids are chanting ‘right on,’” New York Giants defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka told the New York Daily News, adding, “I don’t want anything to do with a team that he has any part of.”
New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott told The NY Daily News that players remember what Limbaugh said about Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donavan McNabb, and the NFL would be wise not to allow the nationally syndicated host into the league.
“It’s an oxymoron that he criticized Donovan McNabb,” Scott said. “A lot of us took it as more of a racial-type thing. I can only imagine how his players would feel. I know I wouldn’t want to play for him. He’s a jerk. He’s an —. What he said (about McNabb) was inappropriate and insensitive, totally off-base. He could offer me whatever he wanted, I wouldn’t play for him. … I wouldn’t play for Rush Limbaugh. My principles are greater and I can’t be bought.”
The McNabb controversy referenced by Scott dates back to October 2002, when Limbaugh, in the capacity of color commentator for ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown, said the League’s first African-American quarterback was “over-rated because the NFL wanted to see a black quarterback succeed.” Limbaugh apologized for his comments and resigned from his ESPN hosting job.
Many sports media figures lambasted the idea of Limbaugh owning an NFL team, with one writer saying it “would definitely hurt” the Rams while another said his “head exploded after hearing this Limbaugh news” because he is “a pungent bowl of stark raving bigoted lunacy.”

Perhaps Kanye West, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Charlie Rangel, Maxine Waters, and Louis Farrakhan can jointly buy the Rams and make all the black players and Liberal sports writers happy.

The NFL is a business. These over paid and pampered players should thank any owner who would use their personal resources to gamble on their talent. Owners hire individuals to play football period. If you have a contract with the Rams, then man-up and play football, this is what you signed a contract to do. Anyone who is not a Ram, should play their game else where, and not sign with the Rams. If Rush owning the Rams offends you, either take the hign road or leave the NFL. Perhaps you should be reminded, that many talented players wait to take your position in the line-up.
Great news! Now we don’t have to watch all the antics in the end zone after a touchdown. Primitive gyrations, dancing, denigrating an opponent, thugs who act like they’re back on the street. Ah, civilization comes to the Rams!
The NFLPA Union has gotten involved and a letter has been written in opposition of Limbaugh. There are other bidders for the team including a black bidder, hopefully Racist Limbaugh will not be picked. LOL

This could only be good news for The Rams – imagine an all-white football team! Or at least one that had blacks who didn’t nigger it up on and off the field. They’d become America’s heroes!
mtfan/Ron/ The Great Frank you are all a part of the sick cancer that is trying to destroy the Great USA. Heal thy self and become a worthwhile citizen of the country. The USA will always be number 1 that is if citizens like y’all get there act together and become loving Christians who follow the teachings of Jesus.
Hey, moron, heal yourself first! Get a brain, and then you can understand what I wrote! Using the word "racism" is just a conjob to get White People silent from seeing and commenting on the truth. I notice nothing in your comment says anything that would even suggest racism on the part of Rush. Fact is that Sharpton and Jackson and the rest of the usual suspects have said hate words. When Jackson apologizes for the hatefull words about the Duke LaCrosse players, and Sharpton about Freddy's "White interloper" comment, then idiot you can reply coherently!
If Rush can muster up the money, power to him let him have his team but given all the trash he has talked I don’t think black players should have to play on it.
Rush insulted the classest player in the game (as a Cowboy fan it pains me to admit that about McNabb but it’s true) McNabb. McNabb never responded in kind but let his play speak for him.
Rush should cry when his chickens come to roost but hey the fat boy is still crying about Clinton.
Hey NewsGuy, you need a fact checker or the Daily Parr does, McNabb was not the NFL’s first black quarterback.
