Bob Dole To GOP: Pass ObamaCare

Bob Dole

Bob Dole

Former Senator and GOP presidential candidate Bob Dole is urging Republican lawmakers to pass legislation on health care reform.

“This is one of the most important measures members of Congress will vote on in their lifetimes,” the former Republican Senate majority leader and presidential candidate told an audience in Kansas City today. “If we don’t do it this year I don’t know when we’re gonna do it.

Dole is about to release a joint statement with Republican Howard Baker and Democrat Tom Daschle echoing his statements.

Some Republicans, such as Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell, oppose passing health care legislation because it is “helping the president,” Dole told the audience.

“I don’t agree with everything Obama is presenting, but we’ve got to do something,” Dole said as his response. “I want this to pass.”

Now we see why Bob Dole was not elected president when he ran for the office.
He was too far to the left!

    Dole= filthy traitor maggot

After I read "Arguing with idiots" I think I'll give Bob Dole a call and get some good practice.

i saw something from the article from AP on the KCStar – http://www.kansascity.com/440/story/1496114.html – that was even more disturbing:

    FTA

"Dole spoke at a health care summit in Kansas City. He said afterward that some Republicans have asked him to stay mum including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

The Kentucky senator's spokesman denied the claim. He said McConnell hasn't spoken with Dole recently and agrees that reform is needed." /FTA

    1) McConnell didn't even talk to Dole recently? AND

    2) McConnell DOES think that reform is needed? (or could that have been taken out of context, as in "reform WHAT?" Leave it to an AP writer to have left out pertinent information from the McConnell spokesman, who may have been referring to tort reform. Who really knows? Just sayin'….

He should have croaked in that field in Italy. We’d all be better off.

Bob Dole, along with Bob Michel, was the reason the Republicans were in the minority in Congress for decades. He’s a “go-along-to-get-along” type Republican who always gave the Democraps what they wanted and never negotiated jack shit. Bob Dole never saw a tax hike he didn’t like.

He’s a war hero, just as John McCain, but it stops there. Bob Dole is a tree-time loser. As Jack Kemp once said of Bob Dole in 1985: “In a recent fire, Bob Dole’s library burned down. Both books were lost. And he hadn’t even finished coloring one of them.”

Like Jimmy Carter, why would anyone listen to Bob Dole?! As least Jimmy Carter won the presidency…once.

Thanks for the integrity and courage of folks like Bob Dole, the air is clearing around the health care reform battle. Americans have suffered defeat from ultra partisan demogogery in the past, but fortunately real American patriots are now transcending their political stripes and stepping up for what is the right thing to do. Dole is a great man and an American hero.

  8. Patrick says

You know what differentiates Mr. Dole from all the Republicans in congress? He's not up for election, and the GOP is pinning thier political future on lining up against this. It's not a great bill, but opponants aren't an honest critics.

I read websites like this and I despair for the US. I could say a 100 things that are FACT but I would just get shouted down and called names, This country is dead

Another disappointment. Another reason to replace them all!

  11. ron says

Bob Dole probably got a payoff from Borat Obama…a case of free viagra.

If Bob Dole wants to serve his country in retirement, then the best thing he can do is DROP DEAD!

  12. The Great Frank says

This is why the Republicrats are worthless!

  13. ac says

A politician is someone who tries to sell you something you do not want, at price you can’t afford. Communist health insurance is a prime example.

  14. Dan says

Maybe instead of confusing Blue with Green, all of that Viagra has affected his thinking

  15. William says

Oh yeah, because anything that's in the public interest is obviously communist!

Well I guess that's what happens when rightists throw around 'big' words that they don't understand or care to, in any case.

  16. Alvy Singer says

Haha. How quickly we turn on our own! God bless Dole for standing up for what is right. And I do mean Right. I am a Christian but I would be only a fool if I believed that Jesus would not support any measure that aided our poor and sick. “What you do for the least of you, you do to me.”
