FBI Releases OKC Tapes

The FBI has released surveillance tapes from the aftermath of the Oklahoma City Bombing to the public.

The soundless tapes are taken from surveillance cameras surrounding the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, which was blown up by a truck bomb on the morning of April 19th, 1995.

Utah attorney Jesse Trentadue, obtained the recordings through the federal Freedom of Information Act as part of his ongoing inquiry into the terrorist attack. Trentadue’s brother died while in federal police custody at the Oklahoma City Federal Transfer Center in August 1995. Trentadue alleges guards mistook his brother for a bombing suspect and killed his brother during an interrogation. The official cause of his brother’s death is listed as suicide.

Trentadue made the footage available to The Oklahoman newspaper, which has made the footage available online.

Trentadue’s inquiry has fueled speculation that elements within the FBI knew more about the bombing than has been released to the public, including a wide-ranging conspiracy theory that the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) was directly involved with the attack.
