Two of the homes raided by FBI agents Monday.
Agents from the FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force raided several residences in Queens, New York Monday morning as part of an investigation into an Al Queda associate.
The associate, originally from Afghanistan, has been living in the Midwest and was under federal surveillance. It is believed he visited more than one residence in Flushing, Queens over the weekend.
New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne confirmed the searches were made but declined to go into detail. Two anonymous agents told FOX News they did not find any weapons, such as a bomb, but the danger was very real and the target of any purported attack — or who would carry it out — remained unclear.
Marlon Reddick arrested Sept. 6
On September 7, Connecticut police arrested 44-year-old Marlon Reddick after they discovered a sawed-off shotgun and pipe bombs in his car after stopping him for equipment violations. It is not know if this case is related to Monday’s investigation.
Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., was briefed by FBI officials would not discuss the case because many of the details were still classified.
“There was nothing imminent, and they are very good now at tracking potentially dangerous actions and this was preventive,” Schumer said. He added that the law enforcement action was unrelated to Barack Obama’s visit Monday to New York.
Monday afternoon, a man answering his apartment door at a three-story brick apartment building in a predominantly Asian neighborhood of Queens confirmed that police had been at his apartment earlier Monday. He and a woman in the apartment wouldn’t comment further or identify themselves, closing their door to a reporter.

Nearby resident Kabir Islam, 24, said he saw FBI agents and police officers surrounding the apartment when he arrived home after 3 a.m. Monday.
One of the raids happened at the 41st Ave. apartment of Assad Niazi, a self-employed antiques dealer.
Niazi said federal agents and cops rammed his door open at 2 a.m.
“They looking for some powder, some different things for making bombs and different things,” Niazi told WCBS-TV.
Niazi insisted he was not the target of the search. He said he has roommates that may have been targeted.
“I don’t know [the other residents],” Niazi said. “They are roommates – they go to work in the morning, and at night they come back.”
He said agents searched his apartment top to bottom, even dismantling the kitchen radiator.
