A Labor Day Tea Party in New Lenox, Illinois drew more than 10,000 Americans yesterday, stirring anticipation that grass-roots conservative activism is growing across the country.
Traffic was backed up for two miles in either direction due to the massive turn out, causing police to shut down sections of Interstate 80 for several hours.
“The people of America (the sleeping giant) have finally woke up, and we’re never going to close our eyes again,” wrote one blogger after attending the rally.
“We want to shrink the size of government, we want to stop the outrageous spending, and the generational theft,” speaker Dottie McQueen to the rally to cheers and applause.
The Tea Party was party of the Glen Beck tour, currently making its way across the United States to its final destination of Washington, DC on September 12th.
