Text from a pre-recorded speech by Barack Obama to American public schools mixes in Leftist ideology and propaganda, touting environmentalism, class warfare, and aspects of the pro-illegal immigration and civil rights agendas.
Obama begins by trying to relate to students with a story on how he had to wake up at 4:30 in the morning while living in Indonesia. After some arguably inspiring words about achievement, he slips in the following paragraph, which promotes a liberal social agenda by including AIDS, environmentalism, homelessness, and discrimination:
You’ll need the knowledge and problem-solving skills you learn in science and math to cure diseases like cancer and AIDS, and to develop new energy technologies and protect our environment. You’ll need the insights and critical thinking skills you gain in history and social studies to fight poverty and homelessness, crime and discrimination, and make our nation more fair and more free.
Obama later goes on to sympathetically portray an illegal immigrant girl who begins her school career without knowing the English language:
Young people like Jazmin Perez, from Roma, Texas. Jazmin didn’t speak English when she first started school. Hardly anyone in her hometown went to college, and neither of her parents had gone either. But she worked hard, earned good grades, got a scholarship to Brown University, and is now in graduate school, studying public health, on her way to being Dr. Jazmin Perez.
Towards the end of his speech, Obama throws another sop to civil rights:
Students who sat where you sit 75 years ago who overcame a Depression and won a world war; who fought for civil rights and put a man on the moon.

Instead of saying what is written in the text, Obama could have said this:
“You’ll need the knowledge and problem-solving skills you learn in science and math to cure diseases and to develop new technologies. You’ll need the insights and critical thinking skills you gain in history and social studies to solve problems in our society.”
And what hell is this “make our nation more fair and more free” Bullsh!t? America is so oppressive that’s how he got to be president. oh yeah, I see how it works now.
Assuming a Hispanic person is an illegal immigrant is really racist. But I expect no better from the extreme-Right.
WHAT? First of all, I doubt you will post my comment, because it actually makes SENSE. How do you know the girl he mentions is an illegal immigrant? That is pure speculation. And are you denying that there are problems in this country with poverty and homelessness? Maybe not in your cushy little right-wing bubble, but there are real people suffering out there. God forbid our President encourage children to stay in school and try to reach goals.
Obama could follow your rewrite,Newsguy – except if you reread your suggestion it is comprised of two sentences which do not make sense.Incidentally – “more fair & more free” implies that freedoms already exist rather than that the US is “so oppressive.”Perhaps now you see how it works?
If you look back at the history of Socialism, all the successfull Socialist-Communist leaders addressed (brainwashed) the youngest crowds possible. Just the other day, my wife and I saw a Biography of Obama in the children’s book section of Barnes and Nobles. This book was intended for readers age 2 to 4. Don’t recall seeing any Reagan or Bush biographies there. This speech’s agenda is mainly to establish a direct link to the younger crowd, bypassing the parent’s political education of their children.
How about this head line; People That Need to Take Their Medications Make Stuff Up. I don’t see anything talking about “pro-illegal immigration,” and I read the whole thing a little bat ago myself. The bit that is pointed to for referencing this is a bit talking about a girl named Jazmin Perez who didn’t speak English when she went to school. There is no mention of immigration status and there are quite a few families in the US that speak languages other than English primarily in the home; this does not make them “Illegal Immigrants,” but it does make you a bigot for assuming such. I came across one girl in college that learned English when she was 10 when her family immigrated here from Germany; I would guess that you would call her an illegal too.
I also do not see how a brief run down of history is advocating civil rights. The Civil rights movement was real, it happened, it occurred primarily between World War II and the moon landing, this is a fact. I don’t care if you agree with the outcome or not it happened and it was a major historical event.
AIDS is not an agenda; it is a virus that is killing millions of people slowly because that people wish to keep their heads firmly planted in the sand. I would be willing to bet that if there was a manditory AIDS test tomorrow that a good number of people that still cling to the homophobic “AIDS is a gay problem” idea would be among the top statistics of people who had been living for a long time unaware that they have it. It is this kind of thinking that makes sure that it is still spreading. Wake up; look around at life past your hate.
On to homelessness; thats another fact that you think as an agenda. Those are real people. The last statistical report that I saw for this area, 2003, said that near half of the homeless are vetrens of military service that can’t get the VA to do it’s job; the other half have a mental disorder and can’t get medications because they don’t qualify for MEDICAID; you have to look for work to get MEDICAID here and that is impossible if the little orange aliens are chasing you constantly. In this area less than 10% of the homeless population is people who are able body, and with-out work. That is reality, not something that people are putting together to make you look bad. I know, I was there once, I’m doing my best not to be there again.
Environmental science is a valid scientific field. If you want to yet again put your head in the sand and say that “only God can end the world” try this one on; back in the 80’s some one looked at all of the environmental impacts, destruction, and radiological problems that would occur from a nuclear war; they found it would take eleven high yield, based on what was available at the time, warheads to remove all life from the planet in one to three years. There is a reason that the cold war didn’t turn hot; and you were not a part of it.
On another note; the speech will be live tomorrow, not prerecorded. What you and I read was the script that he will be reading from. At least try and keep up.

People tell me I am radical, but I think I will wait until he says the words to the kids before I chime in too loudly. He has a way of not doing what he says he will do. OTOH, it sounds like it will be a downer of a speech, though not to worry – the kids won’t hear one word of it because it sounds too boring. Yes, he could couch his words so that it doesn’t sound like he is reciting the Socialist Democrat manifesto, but then that wouldn’t be Barack Obama. I maintain one reason our kids are so discombobulated mentally is that all they ever hear is dire predictions, horrible illnesses, serious attacks, parents abandoning their kids, etc. Does anybody ever do anything to elevate our kids’ attitudes? This speech ain’t it.

How old are you? People keep trying to connect to the youth, but it never seems to work. I even cringed at Mr. Obama saying “the Xbox”.
After watching the speech, I don’t see how inspiring kids is a bad thing. Sure it may sound boring to some, but that’s their problem.

As bad as our current state of affairs is, it’s not to the point where American children have no freedom to think whatever we want to think. It seems like you’re still stuck in the “socialism is pure evil” idea. Which I think is a bit crazy because the idea of socialism works, however I don’t believe it actually can. Just because someone is different from you doesn’t mean it’s totally wrong, which is kind of what America is trying to promote right?
