A member from the Guardian Angels’ Los Angeles franchise was severely beaten last week, raising questions on what role the street vigilante group plays and whether they can are an effective “crime fighting” group.
During an August 8 street patrol, Guardian Angel member Alex “Gemini” Makarczyk and 9 other Angels tried to stop a female club goer from being sexually assaulted. A group of 25 men stepped in to help the alleged rapist, beating Makarczyk senseless.
Makarczyk and two other Angels were sent to Cedar Siani hospital. Makarczyk was sent to ICU and the other Angels have been treated and released.
Los Angeles GA franchise leader Adam Kratt disputed the number of Angels involved in the altercation. “The Guardian Angels were prepared,” Kratt said. “There? were seven (7) of us and as you stated twenty five (25) of them [....] We were out numbered. We went in to protect two (2) people who were being physically attacked. We were there to protect the community.”
At least one of the gang of 25 was arrested.

I don’t know what you have against Sliwa, but seriously, you’re bagging on seven citizens who went to help a woman being sexually assaulted? Would you guys be man enough to try to save her? Angels don’t need to provide health insurance, it’s called VOLUNTEER! Most members work full time jobs and already have health insurance. Do you get health insurance when you volunteer? When you volunteer for the military, the US gvt. pays for your medical, room & board, etc. – and even pays YOU for volunteering!
