The Nevada field director of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) has pleaded guilty to conspiracy for organizing a scheme that illegally paid workers to register new voters.
As ACORN field director for Nevada, Christopher Edwards paid canvassers – described as “lazy crack heads” by an ex-employee in the police affidavit – to register voters for the 2008 US presidential election. Edwards also set up illegal quotas of 20 new voters a day for the canvassers to keep their job and paid a $5 bonus for signing up 21 voters or more.
The Leftist-leaning, Chicago-based group with close ties to Barack Obama targeted low-income, so-called “underserved” communities for registration drives. It is believed that the illegal quota system masterminded by Edwards encouraged the collection of fraudulent voter registration forms during the 2008 campaign.
As part of Edwards’ guilty plea, he is cooperating with authorities and will testify against several high-ranking ACORN regional officials, including former regional director Amy Busefnik. His testimony could strengthen similar pending criminal cases against the group in Florida, New Mexico and Pennsylvania.

So how is this anyones fault but those who lied to get these signed registrations, and how many of these registrations actually got used by voters??, unless someone actually voted under these names, it is not voter fraud, it is registration fraud, and it had no bearing on the election??…

It’s been proven in Ohio for one state and in Florida for another. Unless you think that signing up “Mickey Mouse” and “Donald Duck”, who actually voted, is legal. ACORN had much bearing on the election – it was not a fair one and it was proven. The US makes such a deal about voter irregularities in other countries and we haven’t had a fair election in this country for at least the election of the last two presidents – “W” Bush and Obama. I’m sure there were others in the past as well.
Who would give a pass to corruption of our voting process??? Maybe Congress should look into why we American taxpayers are having to pay ACORN to rig elections. Congress is the villian, they alot these thugs millions of dollars. This is just another reason why people are flooding into the townhall meetings mad at the government. Our time at work from January to September is taken by the government for taxes. This means that we are already working as slaves to the government., and when we see our money being used against us honest ones, it just ticks us off big time.
Why does Obama continue to have a relationship with this organization? Their involvement is hidden from the public by the many layers of the organization. We’ve given them billions of dollars in grant monies. Why would we even consider this group assisting in the census with so many pending criminal cases pending against them?
What they fail to mention is this guy didn’t care whether people voted or not, as long as they registered. This is what he got paid for. The more people who registered, the more he got paid.

In order to vote you must show valid ID,to register you just fill out a form,but to cast a ballot you must have legal ID,so no Mickey and Minnie did not vote
It’s their fault for (1) creating contracts (or at least pay structures) that are expressly illegal because (2) the resulting situation encouraged the employees (“those who lied to get [the] signed registrations”) to break the law.
And sorry that the terminology isn’t to your liking (“registration fraud”), but voter fraud and associated illegal activities can be extended to practices that prevent or discourage voters. For example, if one engages in a voter registration drive in my state and doesn’t turn in all completed forms (say, only those that registered Democrat or Republican), one is equally guilty of voter fraud, though it may be equally termed registration fraud.
President Obama doesn’t walk away from Acorn because he still needs them to help disrupt townhall meetings, spread incorrect information via the internet and for the future as he introduces more and more legislation to take more and more of Americans freedoms away (wait till you see what he has planned for gun control and illegal immigrants)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cfirestar: yes there has been PROVEN voter fraud in the last Pres election cycle. In several south Florida counties entire graveyards suddenly showed up on “new voter” rolls signed up by ACORN and almost all filed absentee ballots. Additionally (and to show it’s not just a FL thing) a lady in Oregan signed her DOG up and actually had it submit a ballot. The lady did reveal the scheme herself and said that it was only to show how easy and rampant voter fraud in her district, for which she was sentenced to probation and a fine.
Hey Dem’s, the problem is this..(its not rocket science!) Government is taking so much from America in oppressive taxes that there isn’t much left over to spend. Just look at your damn wage statement and all the taxes coming out from Federal, State, Meidcare and Social Security.
