During a closed-door meeting with conservative constituents, Democrat Congressman Brad Miller said that he “does not care” if they “do not trust” him on voting for a single-payer health care plan.
Miller held the private meeting with nine pre-selected North Carolina conservatives on August 7th after refusing to hold any townhall meetings to discuss health care reform proposals.
Conservatives held a massive protest outside the meeting place in downtown Raliegh to show their disapproval against Congressman Miller’s refusal to hold hold townhall meetings. Although the police permit allowed for only 50 protesters, many times that amount showed up. All were peaceful and none were arrested (more pics at Randy’s Right).
Democrat lawmakers have moved from open townhall meetings to holding highly-scripted events. closed-door meetings and even telephone conferences with pre-selected constituents since public opposition to Obama’s health care reform proposals have seized national attention.
One of the nine conservatives who met with Congressman Miller later told reporters he was not satisfied with their discussion. The conservative said that Miller dismissed opposition to a public health care option as “belligerent Internet rhetoric”:

Since the Obamacare is not supposed to become effective until 2013, I suggest all who are opposed to this plan to just stop talking about it. We now need to speak with our votes, in 2010 and 2012. They call us all sorts of names, other than the concerned citizens that we are, so it seems futile to continue. This is not giving up, it is called “walking softly, and carrying a big stick.” Let them paint whatever rosy picture they want to. All can be changed with a new administration in 2012.
We’ve got to take it back… Make them realize they work for US, and are answerable to US!
What we really have to do is across the board, both Republican AND democrats, is vote every last one of the Incumbents OUT of office.
How dare he say he doesn’t care if his constituents trust him or not!
What the fuck, over?
