Obama “Misspoke” On AARP Endorsement

obama_liar-liarBarack Obama has taken a big setback in promoting his single-payer health care reform after telling a Portsmouth townhall meeting that the AARP was “endorsing” his proposed plan when it actually had not.

Speaking without a teleprompter, Obama told the New Hampshire audience, “Well, first of all, another myth that we’ve been hearing about is this notion that somehow we’re going to be cutting your Medicare benefits. We are not.  AARP would not be endorsing a bill if it was undermining Medicare, okay?”

“We have the AARP on board, because they know it [Obama's health care reform] is a good plan for seniors.”

AARP Chief Operating Officer Tom Nelson responded to Obama’s claim today, saying the group has done no such thing. “While the President was correct that AARP will not endorse a health care reform bill that would reduce Medicare benefits, indications that we have endorsed any of the major health care reform bills currently under consideration in Congress are inaccurate,” Nelson said in a statement.

A humbled White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs uncomfortably ate crow when admitting to a Fox News correspondant that Obama “misspoke” at the townhall event:

Well of COURSE he is a liar-he lies like other people chew gum or something. I know that didn't make a whole lotta sense? But you can't help but "get my drift"

Have you noticed how very smoothly he does this. I tell ya the White House oughta give lessons on schmoozing and kool-aid drinking, habitual lying narcissist 101. Oughta be able to trim that deficit that way!

He he did something-ANYTHING that made any sense I would faint dead away at the incredulity that would immediately take hold!

PinochiObama, by the time we (AMERICANS) get him out of the White House (before he completely destroys this Nation)He may have to leave sitting in the rear end of a 50ft. Trailer with all the lies he has commited and I'm sure there's more to come……

Geomcd…come on now, your smart enough to know this: horrible, mean, bad republicans LIE; nice, sweet, well meaning democrats/liberals only POORLY CALIBRATE and MISSPEAK their words. The libs simply realize their taxpayer subsidized base are too uneducated/indifferent to understand most words over 4 letters (excepting Welfare, of course)

This is not about health care reform, which we don’t need. This is about the government taking over privately dominated health care, which is SOCIALISM. ( AKA CHANGE)

  8. Dylan says

While the AARP has not officially “endorsed” any particular version of this bill, people are forgetting that they are in fact in support of health care reform. To get that detail wrong, and to correct it the next day, does not constitute a “lie”. A lie is a deliberate denial of the truth. For example, to inform the American people and the entire world that there are weapons of mass destruction in Iraq (when it is known that there are none) and to perpetuate that myth for years in order to justify an illegal war. THAT is an example of a lie. To acknowledge a more accurate way of representing the truth, and to admit a poorly crafted choice of words, on the VERY NEXT DAY, does not constitute misleading, lying, or deliberately covering up the truth.
