@Augustus: I know that also, and left it out of my essay as not to go off on a route that would have led away from the main crux of my argument. John Hancock and Samuel Adams were indeed targets of this more also, but the main one, which is where I was going in this essay, was the disarmament of the Colonists.

They (the British) were actually after three things, well one thing and two people when they marched on Lexington and Concord. The Arms as you have stated were the first; but they were also after two people, people that were key in the founding of our Republic. Both were students of Marcus Tillius Cicero’s Natural Law and his writings on the Roman Republic. Those two men were John Hancock and Samuel Adams…..
