A 22-year-old Stellenbosch University student has become the first casualty of the Swine flu, otherwise known as Novel Influenza A/ H1N1 virus.
The Western Cape student was hospitalized with pnemonia. Toxicology results confirmed the cause of death.
Currently, there are 42 confirmed cases of H1N1 virus.
MEC for health in the Western Cape, Theuns Botha.said the Western Cape government is working closely with the national and provincial departments of Health and Education.
“I want to reassure our public that there is no need to panic,” Botha said.
