Barack Obama’s proposed national health care plan will offer free sex change operations and require commercial plans to cover the surgical procedure if they do not already do so.
“Instead of allowing insurance to compete by offering different benefit packages, the Democrats are considering insurance mandates to cover exotic benefits that individuals may not want to buy such as [....] sex change operations,” writes lawyer and conservative political analyst Phyllis Schlafly.
Traditional Values Coalition executive director Andrea Lafferty pinpoints the part of the proposed Obamacare plan:
“The Senate bill contains a section that mandates that the federal government must create “standards” for the “measurement of gender” in data collection statistics. The use of the term “gender” instead of male or female means that the legislation will be used to collect health care information on transgendered individuals (transvestites, transsexuals, she-males, and cross-dressers). This information will be used to mandate that insurance companies fund sex change operations.”
The ObamaCare plan is modeled after a British NHS mandate on full coverage for patients getting sex-change operations, who also get free psychotherapy and hormonal treatments in addition to the operation itself. Since mandating the “right” in 1999, more than 1,000 Brits have made the switch, at a cost of more than £10million (US $16,432,000) to the taxpayer.
Socialist haven Brazil began offering free sex-change operations in 2007, after a federal panel ruled the procedure a “constitutional right” that must be covered by the country’s universal health care plan.
The Communist dictatorship of Cuba recently passed a Public Health Ministry resolution mandating full coverage for sex-change operations and medical guidelines for transsexuals. The move is the result of efforts spearheaded by Mariela Castro, the daughter of Cuban president and little brother of Fidel, Raoul Castro.

The Times in a July 7 editorial argued “As much as 30 percent of all health-care spending in the U.S. -some $700 billion a year- may be wasted on tests and treatments that do not improve the health of the recipients,” Thus the remaining $239 billions over a decade do not matter.
No one can disagree with this best outcome / evidence-based system, and private insurance, too, will be greatly influenced by this change with the focus on value over volume. !
Dr. Armadio at Mayo clinic says, “If we got rid of that stuff, we save a third of all that we spend and that is 2.5 trillion dollars on health care. A third of that and that is 700 billion dollars a year. That covers a lot of uninsured people.”

You see… it costs more in medical bills, psychiatric services, hospitalisations etc NOT to perform the surgery than to perform it. Oh yes, there’s also the lives that are saved, but let’s look at it from a purely cost-saving perspective first.

btw – besides Intersex (hermaphrodites) there is also a condition called Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome, where a person is born with XY chromosomes (i.e. Male) but develops into a perfectly formed Female as the mutation from the stock form of all foetuses (Female) to Male doesn’t happen.

I just want to say that Zoe Brain you are my new personal hero, Frank, sex change operations are a form of treatment. As it was already pointed out, it cost more to treat a transgendered person alternatively than to allow a sex change.
