Can you believe that judge? I'll say this, had he been a Republican, and this happened when Bush was president, the Democrats would still be screaming for the max sentence, and saying he got special treatment because he was a Republican. The judge sent the wrong message. When a public official violates his trust, he should be given the max to send a message. This sentence sends the wrong message.

Another example of how elected govt. officials take care of themselves and not the people. Maybe someone can provide the name of one politician who honestly serves the people and not themselves. I can't.

This thief gets only 55 months for his shameful deeds because Judge Buckwalter states he performed “exceptional” public service for 30 years.
I was not aware that stealing $3.5 million dollars is considered “exceptional” public service.
This fiend should have been given 20 years hard time at the least. This Judge Buckwalter needs to be given a cerebral examination.
I wonder what Senator Chris Dodd of Connecticut would get for his crimes, 10 months?

^^^I agree.
The people who are supposed to represent us are certainly not interested in doing what the people want. Perhaps harsh penalties will send a message to up and coming politicians that behavior like this will not be tolerated. Personally, I'd like to see some of these politicians hung in the town square for all to see.

Murtha is the biggest crook in Congress, and he's still at it. Heck I'd settle for a light sentence over more of the same.

He should have gotten the max sentence because he enriched himself while in office and violated the voters trust and confidence. Lets send a stronger message to all in public service !
