A highly-disputed map from the 15th century proving Viking exploration of the world is real, concludes a Danish cartography expert.
Rene Larsen, rector of the School of Conservation under the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, presented his evidence at an international cartographers’ conference in Copenhagen Friday.
Larsen said his team carried out studies of the ink, writing, wormholes and parchment of the map.
“All the tests that we have done over the past five years – on the materials and other aspects – do not show any signs of forgery,” Larsen said.
The map’s wormholes, caused by wood beetles, were consistent with wormholes in the books with which the map was bound.
Larson said claims the ink was too recent because it contained a substance called anatase titanium dioxide could be rejected because medieval maps have been found with the same substance, which probably came from sand used to dry wet ink.
In addition to showing Viking exploration of the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, the Vinland map shows North and South Labrador, a direct part of continental North America. The large upper inlet is unquestionably Goose Bay, while the lower shows the inlet at Cartwright. Viking finds have been found in Labrador and Newfoundland, and farther west in Nunavit.
The Vinland map first came to light in the 1950’s by a Swiss art dealer, who claimed it was made by Vikings who drew it at least 50 years before Columbus “discovered” America. It was quickly dismissed as a hoax, and rejected by the British Museum in 1957. The Vinland map was later bought by an American, and subsequently bought for Yale University by a wealthy Yale alumnus, Paul Mellon, and published with fanfare in 1965. How the Swiss art dealer got the map in the first place remains a mystery.
Carbon dating puts the map’s creation at 1440, vindicating the Swiss dealer’s claim. Scholars believe the map was it was produced for a 1440 church council at Basel, Switzerland.

VIVA great Solutrea !!!
Amazing! Viva la truth! hehehe
I salute my Solutrean ancestors!
And of course TRP, which brings us the truth about Solutrea.
. . . of course this is still not quite right . . . I always found it funny that someone other than the existing natives “discovered” America . . . oh the horrible things that they teach us in school and every teacher sits there unchallenged by every student as they nod their head in ignorant bliss unable to comprehend that they are being told that the native inhabitantce did not discover the land that they already colonized.

Frank: Where is Vinland? – Labrador? Newfoundland? Martha’s Vinyard? Chappaquiddick Island?
We Solutreans are the TRUE NATIVE AMERICANS!!!!! Our Great White Caucasian Solutrean ancestors came in waves at various times over tens of thousands of years. They braved the Great Eastern Solutrean Sea, spread out across the land, and built a great and advanced civilization. The Norsemen, like the Great Christopher Columbus, were returning to their homeland. It was the call of the race within their blood that led them here. The Beringians are interlopers who stole the land and killed the original inhabitants, The Solutreans! Don’t allow your children to be taught the lies about “native Amerikans”. The are NOT native, WE ARE!! Remember the spirits of THOSE WHO CAME FIRST!! Honour them!! Hail Solturea!!!
Another Alley Oop Sock Puppet. Vinland, is L’anse Au Meadows in New Foundland. I’ve been there on a pilgrimage to honour my Great White Solutrean Ancestors! I’ve seen where they built their houses. Does that answer your questions Alley Oop?
